Change in movements?

I am 30 weeks today and over the past 24-48 hours my baby's movements have changed a bit. I was getting absolutely pummelled constantly, but now, although the movements are probably just as regular they are much softer/gentler. Does anyone know if this is something I should worry about? I'm just concerned because the kicks were so strong before and now they're only noticeable if I am still really. I should call the midwife shouldn't I?

Give them a call hun- they might ask you to do the water test before going down to be checked which is drinking very cold water lying down and seeing if you have 10 movements (in a an hour I think) or they might say go straight up for baby monitoring.

Definitely get it checked. My midwife always says that it's changes in patterns of movements as opposed to just reduced movements that should be investigated. Try not to worry about it but do go and get monitored.

Always always get any change in movement checked out

Agree with others, safer to get it checked, my baby did the sane last week, well down to no movements. Hospital were fab and I had a trace for 30mins. Baby is fine. :) the relief once checked is amazing.

Fwiw I'm 31 weeks tomorrow and I've found as baby has less room its more squirms and rolls than kicks and punches. That said still get it checked out as its just my experience.

Thanks everyone. Just rang the midwife. She said that as long as I'm still getting plenty of movements then not to worry too much, but to monitor it myself over the course of the morning and if I'm still worried to ring them backs and they'll get me to come in. I've had a cold glass of water and been lying on my left side for half an hour. Baby hasn't stopped moving! Got ten distinct movements in the first 8 minutes! Feel a bit silly now! Going to keep an eye today and see how things go. Thanks for all the replies.

That's great that baby is moving lots now :) Don't ever feel silly though and if you ever get concerned again always get it checked.

Agree with tugs, as soon as I was hooked up at hospital baby started bloody dancing like I'd had lucozade all day Grin they told me they'd rather see me ten times during pregnancy and everything be fine, than me not go once and be worried.
