Pregant after 6 years of trying

Today i finally had the bfp i have been waiting so long for me and dh are over the moon.But i am sitting her stressing about the massive age gap between my ds and this new baby. Ds is 8 so ladies pls tell me your stories about big age gaps between your dc.

We finally got our BFP for No2 15 years after No1. They are just like any other brother and sister and wind each other up, buut also get on like a house on fire!! I don't really think that the age gaps matter as you deal with whatever comes along.

We are now expecting DC No3, 4.5 years after having No2 and I have no idea what it will be like with such a small age gap!!!

I don't have children with a massive age gap myself, but one of my brothers is 7 years younger than me and the other 13 years... And it was great! All my friends wanted to play with them and now they're teenagers at home (well, one of them!) and I've moved out and got my own family they love coming over.

Plus my mum was always able to afford more as we were so spread out.

There is over 6 years between my 2 kids My son is 8 and my daughter is 2 , it was fantastic like being a first time mum with loads of time but with a lot more confidence. My eldest was a great help when his sister was small and they get on great, no jealousy either.

The age gap between myself and my youngest brother is 15 years but we are incredibly close (more so in some respects than my other brothers who I'm similar in age too!).

I think its great that your DS has another brother or sister coming along - he'll be able to help you out and get more involved and will probably be quite protective towards his new brother or sister!

I don't have children, but my closest brother is 13 years older than me. My Sister is 25 years older than me an had already left home before I was born.

Very close to my brother, and now i'm older, my sister too (she was a bit like a 'friend's mum' growing up, mainly because neice is only 8 months younger than me.

mine had a seven year gap - it took me that long to pluck up the corouge again after twins the first time round. Its been a doddle. I never had the chance of looking after one baby, so while the boys are at school its like being a first time mum again with ore experience. I cant reccommend it enough. The older ones help out too!

My dc are spread over 24 yrs...biggest gap is 10 yrs between dc2& dc3. My oldest dc will be 24 when the newest family member arrives!

I've already done teenagers &toddlers...will again,i must be mad!

Personally i think if siblings are going to get on, its more to do with the individual child's personality rather then the age gap.

My sister's two are 3.5 and 15! She loves it now that her teenager can baby sit from time to time! And he is like a mother hen its so lovely.
Also a friend has and 8 yr old and a 2 yr old. She finds it great too as her older dc helps out loads with the little one.
There are definitely great pro's to having them a bit wider apart!

From another angle; My Mum had my (half) brother with another partner when I was 10 and it was the best thing that ever happened to me!

Think I'd always accepted the fact I'd be an only child so was so excited when I heard the news.

Having the big age gap there meant that we weren't bickering over things and I loved helping out. I think this is what inspired me to work with children as I got in so much experience when I was younger.

I'm now 26 expecting my first and he's 16 about to be a very proud Uncle!

I know I'm just one example and every child will be different but sure you will find the same. You could say its easier to explain the situation to an 8 year old, whereas it may be harder for a toddler to understand everything.
