i had an emergency section with my DS

i have recently found out im pregnant
im just wondering if anyone can tell me there experiences of having a second section if it was planned

at how many weeks is the section done?
i had a lot of complications after my DS birth including a burst abdomen so i dont think they ll let me have a natural birth

probably around 37 -38 weeks, but your consultant will discuss this with you after looking at your medical history.

My consultant did mine at 39 weeks it should have been 38 but the couldn't fit me in !! Mine was absolutely fine apart from my bladder being attached to old scar tissue, it can be serious but the surgeons saw it in time, I recovered so much faster this time around ! I think it was because I knew my limitations this time

I had my second scheduled for 39 weeks after an EMCS first time round. Ended up going into labour 2 weeks before the scheduled CS so they took me in an performed the CS then. No problems at all and very relaxed experience in the theatre and post op recovery. Also very quick recovery overall and out of hospital in a few days and doing reasonably long walks 2 weeks post op.

You can speak to your midwife about the delivery method but the consultant usually does not confirm or book you in until later in your pregnancy. Hope all goes well for you.

thanx for the replies , ive booked in with the midwife today so ill hopefully see a consultant soon

Hi I had an EMCS with dd1 born 2010 and a planned section at 41 weeks with DD2 in 2012. They normally do planned CS here at 39 weeks but I was let go to 41 weeks as I said I'd try a vbac if I went into labour spontaneously (emcs was after failure to progress, waters went naturally but labour never started despite 2 pessaries and 12 hours synto drip), as I didn't want to be induced again.

even though i had lots of complications after the section i think i would still prefer one to a VBAC , i was in slow labour for a over a week and my DS was 15 days overdue when i finally had him

i think i would crack up if i went through all that again to still lend up having a section

I had an em/c.s for dd1 then i was going to have a vbac for dd2. But due to grade 4 placenta previa, i had an em/c.s at 34wk for a haemorrhage. I must say that I wasnt as sore second time round altho i was sectioned roughly and quickly to get baby out.

I doubt that you would be aloud a vbac after a uterine rupture but all areas are different - if u want a c.s then that's ur choice as you may not want to take the risk of labour again

im terrified of anything going wrong this time , when my wound burst they left it open for a week it was cleaned and packed everyday , it was the worst pain ive ever felt

i know this wouldnt be likely to happen again but since ive found out im pregnant its in the back of my head all the time

im just going to have to try and think positive

Yeh, stay positive, it's ur choice and if u choose to have a trial of labour - u will be well monitored (wired to your eyesballs lol). Or if u decide a el/luscs (elective) then thats ur choice too. But try and relax and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. WIsh i had enjoyed mine more and didnt worry so much lol
