Can't stop eating!!

I'm 11 weeks and have already put on 4 pounds!! It can't just be bloating/fluid because the truth is, I have turned into a fat pig.

Just wondering if it's normal to be like this and will my appetite die down? I can't afford to put on too much weight. I needed to lose weight before I got pregnant, not put on more!

Also, any tips for healthy snacks that won't pile on the pounds, but will keep the hunger at bay. Luckily I love fruit and have been scoffing loads of it, but can't keep away from cheese/chocolate etc as well. Disgusted with myself.

Oh god, I'm the same - am 10+6 and just starving all the time. Am trying to eat lots of fruit and veg, but mainly just want to eat cheese sandwiches constantly.

I don't think you've put on that much - I thought it's normal to put on about 5 pounds in the first trimester, no? I'm not weighing myself and just trying not to worry about it. Sorry I can't give any more experienced advice, but just want you to know you're not alone!

Ah Louise, it's great to know I'm not alone. Also happy to read that my weight gain seems normal. I just don't want to end up with a huge battle to lose weight after the baby is born. And of course, gestational diabetes is playing on my mind.

I think I just need to plan my meals better and try not to snack.

If I'm not worried about one thing, it's another! This poor baby has a crazy mama.

A little craziness never hurt anyone! Smile

My appetite died down in the second trimester, and now in the third a combination of the baby squashing my stomach and killer heart burn is preventing me from eating enough. I wish I had eaten more when I could as I am losing weight from me whilst the baby grows.

That's not so bad, I wouldn't worry too much at this stage unless you have diabetes or any complications. I ate a lot in the first trimester and it settled down by about week 20. Some healthy snacks I ate we're things like malt loaf and dried fruit and nuts. Cheese is probably pretty good for you - lots of protein and fat - which you do need to build all those things your body is Building.

Right now I'm in my 29th week and in the same boat as worsestershiresauce - so much heart burn and indigestion just the thought of cheese makes me feel nauseous.

hmm... first trimester could hardly eat a thing...

now at 15+3 seem to be able to eat for england, france and germany combined.... and also am in a situation where I could do with shedding rather than gaining tooooo much weight.

However, have decided that trimester 1 was a good way of my getting to REALLY listen to my body and what it needs, so am just doing that from hereon in. Listening. (And eating...)

And yes - it is too late for crackers slormed with butter at the mo!!

Your body will consistently surprise you during your pregnancy - it knows what it needs, so if you're suddenly overcome with desire for cheese, chances are you're not eating enough fatty foods. I know it seems ridiculous because as women we're brainwashed into avoiding these foods, but your body needs them now - just think, it's having to build an entire new human being from nothing!! :)

Listen to and trust what your body is telling you. If you're also craving chocolate (something I have been very guilty of in 3rd trimester!!) chances are its the sugar and calcium you're craving. So fruit juice and milk (not at the same time!) will do the same job with a little less calories and caffeine.

Enjoy the rest of your pg!!
