3rd pregnancy and I shall have 4 dc!

Found out yest.
Am happy for lots of reasons and very nervous for lots of reasons too.

My other 2 dc were emergency c-section and before I was planning a vbac but now with twins I'm thinking planned csection would be best for babies.

Anyone with similar experience?

Congratulations! My third and fourth are twins too. I had to have a section as presenting twin was transverse, but it was my first section.

Hi butterflyexperience, me too! Have posted in the Multiple Births section a message v similar to yours. Have received lots of nice and reassuring replies, but am still in shock - and I'm now 15 weeks!

I have DSs just 5 and 2.5, and will therefore have 4 under 6, which still terrifies me. I'm glad you're - partly- happy about it. To be honest,I'm still not.... but hope I will become that way. My boys are absolutely wonderful and I did really want a third child, but 4 still seems like a game - and life-changer, and I can't shake off that feeling. My husband feels similarly.

Congrats anyway. Maybe post in Multiple Births- there seem to be lots of lovely , supportive mums of multiples in there. Good luck.

Congratulations! My second pregnancy turned out to be ds2 and 3. Was a big shock at the 12 week scan I recall!. 3 boys under 4 has been a challenge at times but great fun too! I had elcs as one twin was transverse, all turned out fine.

Congratulations!! I wanted twins this pregnancy, as its my last but just one squishy bean in there. Personally I would go for the planned csection as IMO it Is the safest option for babies and you xx

Just re the VBAC versus c section though - tbh, it's not even a decision you'll be able to make. You won't be allowed a VBAC. You wouldn't be, even if you were pregnant with a third singleton -once you have had 2 sections your risk of scar rupture with natural labour is too high and you have to have a section for any subsequent pregnancies (I'm pregnant with a single baby not twins but about to have a third c section as I've had 2 sections previously, and the above is what I was told).

...so yes, planned section is probably going to be the best and only way to go for you!

Was also VERY shocked and although we have different situation as i have one ds already, know how you feel in terms of coming to terms with it all! Its very daunting!
Agree with others that elcs will prob be best / only option. But just take time to take it all in. I had a natural birth previously but have got my head around the fact that with two having to come out i will most likely end up with a section.
As Elisio mentioned there is multiple birth
Forum where there are lots of experienced twin mums willing to offer advice!

My non ID girls are 16 weeks old. They were my 1st & 2nd DC and a complete shock at the 12 week scan. I wanted a natural birth but presenting twin was transverse (both were actually). I gave my birth a lot of though but the decision was out of my hands in the end. Making a definite decision early on is a very good idea.

Me too, found out last Friday as had early scan due to cramping. Thought I was miscarrying, instead 2 babies, 2 pumping heartbeats! Shock. Am now 9 weeks.

Ds 4, DD 2, and now a family of four possibly! I move between nervous giggles, fear and horror, mainly due to lack of finances and sleep. Due to previous MC, will not start believing it is going to happen properly til 20 week scan. I know twin pregnancies are meant to be risky (anyone know why?) and does anyone know if there is a higher risk of miscarriage with twins? Sorry for being morbid, but once bitten...

Ps, my doctor seemed to indicate twins are pretty always by cs now, health issues or not. I have had 2 10 pounders so she thought they wouldn't let me go to full term as they wld get squashed. Plus my second dc was born in 20 mins, don't want a surprise twin delivery at home, and sure as hell my dh wouldn't!!!
