I will be 37 weeks tomorrow and today and some of yesterday I've had quite a lot of what feels like period cramping. It's uncomfortable and sore but not overly so and it can last for quite a while before it settles?

It's my first baby so just wondering if this is all a normal part of being in the final weeks?

cheers x

Hmm anything goes in final weeks in terms of cramping - I had bad spd and my DS was in a transverse lie until really near the end so I got weird twangy ligament pains all the time as he stretched every abdominal muscle I had out of shape!! A friend of mine who just had her first a couple of weeks ago had very bad cramping and nightly regular braxton hicks that stopped her getting much sleep from about 36 weeks on. So I wouldn't panic, but if you find the cramping is getting very sore, or starts to become regular or if there's any bleeding or anything like that then of course call the hospital.

Otherwise, good luck with next couple of weeks as you get ready for your new arrival :)

It's just your body getting ready I would say. If your worried call the midwife...good luck!

Thanks for the replies - I guess I just needed some hand holding :)

I'm not worried about it, it's just a bit uncomfy but then most things are at the moment.

I'm 39+6 and have had periody cramping for about 4 weeks now. Midwife says it's body getting ready for labour. Good luck OP!
