Ugh, knew I shouldn't have done this. Went on my own. .mw said think carefully, 50% chance we won't hear heartbeat. So after hesitating I agreed and she couldn't find a heartbeat so now I feel horrific..

Any similar experiences?

Do you have an anterior placenta? If so, it's harder to pick up heartbeat. As hard as it is, try not to worry. Sending you a virtual hug.

I don't know that I have an anterior placenta. Thanks for hug. She said I shouldn't have emptied my bladder ideally...

Did you have your dating scan? It should say it on your notes. Try not to worry. I know it's difficult...i had my dating scan last week and am already stressed again despite baby having good heartbeat. I suppose it's in our nature. Hopefully all will be ok and bubba is fine.

Have they offered for you to go to EPU for a scan? That is policy here, if they try for a while and can't find it they scan you quickly to put your mind at rest. Baby is probably just nestled away.

I asked at about that time (16wks I think) and was told no because it was just as likely thy wouldn't find it and it causes too much worry for nothing .

If you've gotten yourself into a state maybe phone your cmu otherwise I would just try not to worry . (I know its easier said than done !!Grin)

NICE guidelines is much much later than that (think 24 wks) they refuse now in Wales for this reason.

Bunnychan · 16/01/2013 18:34

Do you mean the midwife couldn't find it? My mw didn't listen until 16 weeks and even said "babies like to play hide and seek so we can't always find it yet! " if I've interpreted it right, I wouldn't worry too much quite yet x
