Terrified!!

I ladies am new to this have never posted before but am going out of my mind with worry, I'm almost 16 wks pregnant and have a scan on tues. problem is my last pregnancy picked up that my daughter had a lethal form of skeletal dysplasia and would never be able to breathe for herself, she was then born at 22 wks but passed away minutes later. I am now terrified that I'm going to be told that new baby also has the condition when I go for my scan in a few days time. I do have 3 healthy children so drs think its unlikely to be a generic condition that me or husband have but can't sleep eat or even think straight for the nerves, anyone else had any experience like this and gone on to have healthy babies if so please get in touch am desperate for some reassurance xxx

I am so sorry for your loss, and congratulations on your pregnancy, my daughter was born with a very severe condition that wasn't picked up on the scans, she died at 2 weeks old, it was a condition that couldn't have been tested for so I had to wait for scans when I got pregnant again. 1 week and 1 year after I lost my daughter I had another daughter who was absolutely fine, then 2 years later I had another daughter who, again, was fine.

Its a horrible time for you just now, and to be honest even though the scan tells you your baby will be fine you won't believe it until he or she is born. My only advice is don't be guilty about feeling paranoid, its perfectly normal to feel the way you do and anyone in your position would feel the same way.

I don't have much advice to offer but didn't want to read and run. Best of luck and try to think positively.

Thanks for both your messages I am just praying to be lucky this time around and believe when the drs say it was a one off. Think I have to agree though that won't totally relax till have him/her in my arms x
