Wythenshawe hospital-a few questions!

I'm only about 6 weeks along but it's my first and I have so many questions! I spoke to the community midwives on the phone last week and they said they'd send out date for booking appointment-when is that appointment likely to happen? Also, when (usually) is the scan at Wythenshawe? Will I be told at the booking appointment? Finally, I went with Wythenshawe simply because it's nearest...is there anything I really should know about it?!!

Hiya,

I've not given birth at wythenshaw but my homebirth team and antenatals have been there (and withington)

Your booking in appointment will be around 10-12 weeks and will take about an hour.

You should have 12 week and 20 week scans there.

I'm currently on the ante natal ward at Wythenshawe! Had my first here too. They are great and I have nothing but positive words to say about them and I have had 1 premature and one about to be premature birth so not straightforward.

I got a letter following my referral by GP asking me to phone and arrange a booking in appt. This was in the community (at a Surestart centre) when I was 10 weeks. The midwife gave me a 12 week scan date at this appt which was at 12 + 1. I booked my 20 week scan at the hospital after I had my 12 week scan.

I then had a consultant appt at 16 weeks (you may see the community midwife depending on how high risk your pregnancy is) and my 20 wk scan. I was then back in the community and would have been until a consultant appt at 32 weeks but this baby has decided to turn up before then.

Hope this helps.
