Hi all - I am 36 weeks pregnant, first baby! Very excited. And over the last few days I have had agonising sharp pains down below in my private area! Sometimes it feels like I am going to urgently wee myself. Then sometimes it is a pain I really cant place! It makes me go "arrrggghhh" and breathe deeply (partner doesnt like that!) I can barely sit sometimes it hurts so much - and it is like a short sharp stab! Is it just the baby moving his head about? Or does it mean anything else?
If any of you say "it means the baby is coming now" you win a big bag of sweets cause i just want him here now please! Very impatient.

I remember this! Its like a shock everytime you sit down. I think its babys head right down low hitiing nerves. It can be quite painful, my OH used to think i was going into labour!!

iamwhaticallpregnant · 14/01/2013 16:18

Yes mine does too. I will be walking across the room then suddenly bend overand go "garrrgghh" and he goes "WHAT WHAT WHAT????" But it is so hard to explain the feeling.

Had it for ages (have stopped walking about so much now!) - like little'un was headbutting downwards. Very, very uncomfortable and difficult to explain to someone else without them thinking you're about to go into labour!

Sounds like crotch zingers (I don't know their proper name that's their MN name!) Smile

u32ng · 14/01/2013 19:33

Haha "crotch zingers"! Brilliant!

I am 38 wks pregnant tomorrow & have been experiencing this from about 36 wks too I'd say. Almost feels like baby has grown super sharp nails & is attempting to claw their way out!

I think greenj1 is right - probably just baby's head pinging some nerves. I've been getting odd inner left thigh cramps/dead leg that come out of nowhere & I think it's also due to baby's head too.

Wheels79 · 14/01/2013 20:36

Oh I like that I have a name for it now. I've been saying for a few weeks that it feels like the baby is trying to dig it's way out (I'm 36 weeks now). I was sitting in a meeting this morning when it fet like I'd been headbutted from the inside. It was all I could do not to cry out!

iamwhaticallpregnant · 15/01/2013 16:37

YES - It is exactly what you have said. Crotch zingers. And i have also experienced the dead leg feeings too - awful. I am 36 weeks. Can not WAIT for it to be over.

It feels like being poked in the fanjo with a knitting needle! In my first pregnancy I didn't have a clue what it was but its normal!

LimeLeafLizard · 17/01/2013 16:06

So glad I spotted this thread - this is my fourth pregnancy and the first time I've had this kind of pain... and a Grin name to go with it. Good to know I'm not the only one, although wish it meant labour was imminent.

lollipoppi · 17/01/2013 17:22

I've had this too and was really worried, I asked my MW yesterday and she said its baby's head moving down and pressing on nerves, think I may let her know the new name for these pains Grin x

LimeLeafLizard · 17/01/2013 18:29

Good to hear your MW thinks it is quite normal... and Grin at you teaching her the name for them!

LPplusOne · 17/01/2013 18:33

Thank you for giving a name to what I've also been experiencing! I'm 36+5 and it's really just hitting me that it could be another 5 WEEKS until the baby actually arrives. Argh!!!!!!!!
