What do I need to buy??

Right then. Given that EDD is three weeks away, I think it's about time I started preparing for this baby's arrival!! (anyone else find that second time around bump doesn't get quite the same amount of attention?? Grin
DS is 2.75, so I still have all the 'hardware' from him - cot, buggy, car seat, bouncy chair, bottles sterilisers etc. We didn't know what gender DS was so have lots of early stage clothes and stuff in cream and yellow which can be re-used.
What I can't remember is what else I need to buy! I've come up with the following list so far, can anyone think of anything else:

  • going home outfit
  • cellular blanket (obviously in different colour to DS's!)
  • nappies
  • some babygroes (the poor child has to have at least a couple of new items!!)
  • some cuddly toy or other

And that's all I can think of! I know I must have missed out on stuff (given that I have never knowingly missed an opportunity to buy new stuff for anyone / thing!)- can anyone fill in the blanks?

thanks!

that sounds fine and then when you know the gender for sure - buy a couple of outfits for them.

Sounds good too, maybe a picture for the wall of his/her bedroom of brother or a hanging picture or something that is unique to this baby.

nappy bags/nappy wrapper film
wipes or cotton wool

MrsBadger · 20/04/2006 12:45

got hats and scratch mitts? I missed these off a Newborn Essentials post the other day and was suitable chastised!

Nbg · 20/04/2006 12:51

The clothes you have suitable for this weather IYSWIM.
I know for myself, my dd was born in winter and this baby is going to be summer so some of the stuff we have wouldn't be suitable.

Nappies
Dummy?
Formula?
Wipes

Flamesparrow · 20/04/2006 13:04

A lightweight snow suit?

MerlinsBeard · 20/04/2006 13:06

present for older brother from new baby

Agree about checking suitablility of clothes, both mine were born in april so was ok for me

LIZS · 20/04/2006 13:08

maybe something to use as an outside layer if this is a spring baby and the other was summer.

hotmama · 20/04/2006 13:28

Definitely a pressie from the baby for the older sibling!

More muslins - I never seem to have enough.

I wouldn't get any more clothes - I know what you mean about handmedowns. I bought dd2 some new bits and pieces so she would have something just for her - still didn't get around to wearing them - just wore dd1's stuff.

I got in more nappies than usual as I didn't know when I would be going shopping.

Definitely get set up for internet food shopping - would starve otherwise. Smile

Good luck.

Oh yeah
Crack on and get some meals ready made for you all.

blueshoes · 20/04/2006 13:40

Double/tandem buggy, assuming your ds still needs it or sling for baby.

Imafairy · 20/04/2006 16:31

Thanks girls!! Glad I'm not as ill-prepared as I thought I might be!!!

Think I should be okay clothes-suitability-wise (DS born in Aug, this one due in May)
Have my Ocado shopping well established, so at least we won't starve.

Next week will be spent making and freezing meals, buying out John Lewis, and making sure the nursery looks like a nursery rather than a dumping ground.

Getting excited!!!!!!!!!
