Hi all
I am on my second baby went to NHS ante natal classes with DS and they weren't amazing but met some mums who I still meet up with from time to time.
Just wondering if any of you mums already are going and is it worth going to NCT classes rather than NHS?
I still don't know that many people in the area and since going back to work the ante natal mums meet sporadically I am a bit shy so think a way to meet people is good but will have to sort childcare and money if opt for NCT thought appreciated :)

Do you have a local children's centre? Ours run a post natal group where you can take other children along maybe an option if you have?

Yes they have a Monday afternoon class might be worth looking at once baby is here but it falls in DS nap time so would have to change his routine but depends how his routine is affected by baby too

I didn't do NCT first time and regretted it from the social aspect. Pregnant with number 2 and am doing an NCT refresher and loving it! Well worth the money and think I'll end up with some good friends out of it.

Thanks Bangers will take a look at it

Eek just had a look at the NCT antenatal courses between £136 - £223.30 - can't justify the cost I'm afraid not when I still have a pretty good idea what to expect from it all and having ELCS anyway can't see any option for a refresher. With it being second baby childcare for that day would be hard so unless there is NHS classes running I will stick to post natal groups probably left it too late anyway thanks for the advice though.

Going off on a bit of a tangent but do you know what the position is as far as getting time off work for antenatal classes?

As well as antenatal classes, most local NCT branches run 'bumps and babies' sessions, which in our area is a weekly meet up at a baby friendly cafe or soft play centre. You don't have to be a NCT member to attend and it can be a 'cheap' way to meet people without shelling out for classes (given that your'e a second time mum).

If you go on the NCT website and look at your local branch, you'l be able to get details.
