Hi everyone,
I am
Looking for women who have given birth who had had a Low Lying Placenta. I am 20 weeks pregnant and understand it can shift as its only early.

I am on pelvic rest and not aloud to work from the heavy bleed. This is my 4th pregnancy all been normal uneventful - ish pregnancies. I am a mother to 3 boys and expecting our 4th boy! (My wish
Other than healthy Child of course :)

Did you bleed (red as i have) as early as 20 weeks? If so when did the brown spotting disappear.

Did you go into labour early? If so how early?

Was the bleeding the cause of you going into preterm labour?

Thank you in advance for you stories and experiences! I know all pregnancies are different but just looking for information to absorb and prepair myself for all situations I may come To head with!

I had a low lying placenta with my second and was in hospital on and off for most of the pregnancy (and not allowed further than my corner shop when at home, and not on my own!!) My placenta did move up, but the bleeding continued, altough the cause of this was never discovered.
The bleeding started at around 14 weeks, pretty much always bright red, loads of it with huge clots. The brown spotting would last for a couple of days after each bleed, but could appear again on its own at any time and last for a few hours or a few days. I wish I could say there was a pattern, but there wasn't!!
The hospital decided to start me off in labour at 38 weeks, following another bleed, but I was actually already 1cm dilated. Prior to this, I had been given the steroid injections just in case he was born earlier. I can only assume that the bleeding was the cause, but I didn't ask and wasn't told-I was just grateful he was here and ok!! He was small (6lb), but needed no intervention at all.

I hope everything goes well, my son os now a very happy, cheeky 4.5 year old and has no ill effects from the rather stressful pregnancy!! Good luck!!

Sorry for short reply but there is a thread about placenta previa in this section - some really good posts on there. Hope things go well for you.

There is also another old threat which I found very useful:

Thank you both very much, I appreciate you replies! I will check out the threads. I so glad everything worked out well for you. It's stressful to bleed during pregnancy especially him you don't know what's causing it :)
