Stupidly took ibuprofen!

For some reason unknown to myself i took a 500mg dose of ibuprofen. A complete brain fart on my part, i completly forgot its not allowed during pregnany!
Looking online it can lead to miscarriage or birth defects like cleft palates! Surely this one dose wont have caused any harm!?

Don't worry. One dose will not harm a healthy embryo. Loads of women take it early on as they mistake the pains for period pains and don't realise they are pregnant. And the danger is greater earlier on in development.

That said, don't make a habit of it. Congratulations.

I wouldn't worry, I didn't find out I was pregnant until I was about 7 weeks, and before I knew had been taking ibuprofen and even co-codamol for bad headaches. I think the worry is if it is regular use. As with all these things, mention it at your next midwife appt just to reassure yourself.

That seems a higher dose than normal? Or did I imagine that?

I wouldn't stress about it because there's nothing you can do but I would put it away somewhere to avoid absentmindedly taking it again.

Thanks my scans on tuesday so will bring it up then! So annoyed with myself for forgetting i shouldnt take it!

Im not entierly sure it was 500mg, it was 1 of the big pink ones? Im sure they have a big dosage...dont they?

Yes the big pink ones are 500mg but it's not a huge dose - 2 of the shop-bought basic ones is 400mg (I regularly take 3 of these, i.e. 600mg, for hangovers when not pregnant).

I suppose theres not much i can do about it now. Ill just bin whatevers left of it and avoid it for the rest of my pregnacy.
I would be extremely unfortunate if something were to happen with only one dose so im going to try not to worry :)
