Apart from the obvious (growing a massive bump!) I just wondered if anyone else had encountered any other weird things happening in pregnancy?

For example - I've noticed that the hair on my legs has barely grown since I got pregnant. Only need to shave it every couple of weeks! My under-arm hair however is sadly unaffected! :(

I'm having a girl, so wondered if this was to do with the girl hormones?

Anyone else...?

I looked down last night as I was changing and realised my belly is ridiculously, terribly hairy. There's even very fine but bloody dark...) hairs in between my breasts! I stood there staring for a good two minutes until DP burst into laughter and said it was fine etc.

Not pleased - it better go away post birth. Envy

Amazing orgasms!!

emeraldgirl1 · 10/01/2013 12:44

Novia - I've had exectly the same with the hairlessness! (very nice for a change...)

I'm having a girl too and I have heard this thing about 'girl' hormones from a friend, but I looked into it further and apparently it's not actually a scientific explanation.

The hair on my legs has reduced by a good 50% though! I'm not just imagining it...

Twattybollocks · 10/01/2013 12:50

Yes to intense orgasms. Also fluffy belly! My leg hair is much slower growing and is patchy, eyebrows are gone a bit wierd ( longer and curly?)
My moustache has vanished and I have short blonde fuzz along my jaw line.

BonaDea · 10/01/2013 13:28

Same with hairlessness! I had expected to get MORE rather than less hair, but whereas in the past I would have to shave my legs daily to stay feeling really smooth, I can now go 2-3 days and still feel nice. Which is just as well really as it becomes more and more tricky to reach my ankles!!

Wishfulmakeupping · 10/01/2013 13:31

Yep to the hairy belly lol and had a couple of skin tags apparently pregnancy does cause them :(

milkyjo · 10/01/2013 16:32

Yes to leg hair growing slower. I'm having a girl. Can't remember this with DS. Also lovely clear skin, defo remember this with DS.

Novia · 10/01/2013 17:02

Ooh funny that the people carrying girls have less leg hair - must be a factor somehow! :) weeblueberry and Wishfulmakeupping - do you know what you're having?

milkyjo - my skin is also very good, no hormonal spots so far (but probably just tempted fate!)

The hair not falling out in pregnancy is sadly a myth for me though - still losing as much as ever!

I have also notices the leg hair, thought I was just my imagination, but now that you've mentioned it!
Also my eye lashes which are usually very long and stubby and short Sad
I'm having a boy, so the leg hair thing might be out the window, DS was also a boy (funnily enough) but I don't remember the leg hair thing then, in fact I was really quite furry remember having to get DH to shave me on a few occasions

FoofFighter · 10/01/2013 17:16

Hairs on boobs and tummy Blush

Orgasms feel weird now Hmm

My hair gets greasier faster. ( on my head not the boob or tummy hair!!)

Littlemissexpecting · 10/01/2013 17:18

My hair doesn't need washed as often!
Leg hair def growing slower and very patchy.
Not noticed anything else but I'll be keeping an eye out now!

weeblueberry · 10/01/2013 17:30

Novia I'm having a little girl but genuinely don't know if my leg hair has been growing slower... I tend to give it a quick swipe every day so haven't really noticed. But fairly soon I'll be too big to do that so I'll report back then. Wink

Mawgatron · 10/01/2013 18:34

I have also def noticed not needing to wash hair as often. It's quite nice actually, as I don't have to bugger about in the morning with wet hair so often.

MisselthwaiteManor · 10/01/2013 18:46

I noticed the belly hair the other day and didn't even associate it with pregnancy, doh. My moustache and various other patches of peach fuzz have disappeared. I don't know what I'm having yet.

My head hair is still falling out the same amount as normal but I'm sure my hair and nails are growing faster.

CityDweller · 10/01/2013 18:46

Glowing skin, but not in the way I was led to believe. I have developed the skin of a teenager - i.e. spotty. So annoying!

Although my skin and hair is also very soft, which is quite nice I suppose. I also have to wash my hair far less often (about half as often as I used to). Oh, my feet have grown, so now hardly any of my shoes fit and the ones that do rub my little toe Sad - my midwife pointed out that's one of downsides of being pregnant in the winter (in the summer you can just wear flipflops)

VodkaJelly · 10/01/2013 19:18

I had a girl last week and I noticed that my leg hair grew slower and didn't need to shave every day. for the last few years the hairs on my thighs have been getting darker (I am blonde and my thigh hair is blonde) but it got light again when pregnant. Also I didn't need to wash my hair everyday which was a bonus.

GreatSoprendo · 10/01/2013 20:01

I agree - leg hair is slow growing now, which is a bonus, as is needing to wash hair less often - one wash lasts ages.

Less nice was when DP pointed out last week that I have a "furry neck" Angry It is true that there is fine fair hair on my throat if you look closely, but it didn't need mentioning!

Am loving the super fast growing finger nails though - I've never had such nice nails before Grin

bogwoppitinatree · 10/01/2013 20:26

Oooh this makes me excited. My "moustache" has completely disappeared and I haven't needed to shave my legs for nearly a week. I am having the 20 week scan next week and would like/prefer to have a girl so fingers crossed there is a correlation (completely happy with a boy as well though).
I have had a trapped nerve in my leg a couple of times over the last week. I have never had this before but the feeling completely disappears from my leg and it turns to jelly. I wonder if this could be pregnancy related?

Wishfulmakeupping · 10/01/2013 22:05

novia I'm havibg a girl too

worsestershiresauce · 10/01/2013 22:24

I'm having a girl and am as hairy as ever. More so actually, due to a new crop of belly hair. I don't want to wax or shave it as the idea of a stubbly stomach is grim, so just trim it pathetically with scissors before midwife appointments!

On the upside, my sweat doesn't smell any more. I've read that this is normal, and due to hormone changes, but it is certainly a bonus. I still sweat, but I never honk.

When I pee it all goes backwards now.. Quite annoying! Must be baby on bladder or something!

u32ng · 12/01/2013 14:43

I didn't have much leg hair anyway, but I swear it's been 2 weeks since I shaved my legs & i've barely a hint of stubble! Very odd (but handy now that bump is massive!)

No idea if I'm having a girl or boy though - not that it seems to be an indicator anyway!

Abzs · 12/01/2013 16:17

I have the hairy belly - I am catching up on the cat in the furry tummy stakes. Also have long, black, flowing (sometimes ingrowing) nipple hairs, which are more disturbing.

My skin is full of blackheads. Face, back and chest.

I'm not putting on weight, but am definitely laying down a spare tyre of fat round my middle.

FreeButtonBee · 12/01/2013 16:26

Yes to slower growing leg hair and less greasy hair.

Yes to hairy belly

And yes to non smelly sweat. Haven't used deodorant in weeks!
