I'm not so bothered about not eating as my appetite has gone in the last trimester (and I suspect I'll be too nervous to eat much), I'm really worried about the not being allowed to drink from midnight. I'm going to be so thirsty!

I was allowed breakfast at half 6 then the last drink at 11 am. Ds was born at 4. I couldnt have gone all day without a drink. noblegiraffe what time is your section?
I had pizza for tea the night before cos i couldnt be arsed to cook and had to go back to hospital at 6 for the pre op blood tests. that they then lost and had to be redone the next day hence the 4pm birth

Definately try to eat something as it was i was starving after but couldnt eat anything for a while as i was sick after drinking water. I could have eaten ascabby horse by the time i got some toast.

I've been told nil by mouth from midnight, then I have to get to the hospital for 7am and the section could be any time that day depending on emergencies (fingers crossed for 9am!). The midwife said it could be any time up till 4pm and when I asked if I could have a drink in that case, she said 'no, we'd put you on a drip(!!)'
Your deal sounds much more civilised Envy

DH cooked chicken fajitas. Wanted to eat substantial meal and was glad I did, I wasn't allowed anything after 6am and my twins weren't born till 2pm! Do eat something and good luck!

When I had dd I had nothing from midnight. I spent the night before in hospital and she was born at 8.30 am. This was in Austria, not UK.

Yeah I've been told in nil by mouth after midnight and I'm defo more devastated about the not drinking bit as I'm so thirsty all the time. I'm thinking of having a chippy tea, something nice and stodgy!!

I was allowed to eat up until 6am, so I had a huge plate of waffles and maple syrup at 5.30! Not healthy, but very, very satisfying (and adrenalin kept me going until the 2pm operation time)
