Hi everyone,
Well I'm just 6 weeks preg and errm it's been a while in the poo dept - tried the usual stuff and nothing doing. I've got both bisacodyl (ie dulcolax) and senna tablets in the cupboard - can I take either of those? I thought the senna would be ok as natural but it says on the bottle not recommended during pregnancy?

Hmm, no I don't think you can, although speak to go or just nip into a pharmacy and ask in there, they will know what you can do to help x

I know you can definitely tale lactulose during pregnancy but whether you have to be past the first trimester I am not sure . I would just pop into a chemist and ask the pharmacist ?

Ok thanks ladies will ask in town tomorrow - would be round the village in 5 mins if I went to our local chemist!
Spinach for tea tho do that might help :)

I wouldn't take either of those personally. Definitely can take lactulose but try more traditional methods like prunes, plenty of water and I find probitics get me moving!

AFAIK, Dulcolax should not be used in pregnancy. Having said that, I did use it early on when I was not aware I was pregnant, with no ill effects.

Benefiber powder ( from boots) you can add to food or drink. None of the horrible flavour or texture of fybogel but very effective. I checked with my dr before taking it and he said it was fine. I used to sprinkle it over bran flakes in the morning and wash done with orange juice and it really did the trick. Cup of tea also works well for me- maybe as I don't have warm drink often.
Hope it gets better for you soon!

Well the spinach did the trick Blush although it wasn't a complete, ahem, clear out it was good enough to ease any discomfort and extra bloated feeling.
Thanks for the other tips I will give them a go and leave the tablets in the cupboard :)
