Hello!
I'm 16 wks today and am soooo thirsty- especially in the evening just before going to bed. Am trying not to drink too much at this time as I'm always up in the night for a pee anyway but it does mean I don't quench my thirst.
I drink mostly water in the day and rarely drink tea or coffee- maybe one decaf after long day. During working day I'll go through up to 3 regular bottles of water and also glug before and after work. I've always drunk lots of water but never felt this thirsty at night.
Is this thirst a normal pregnancy thing? Have midwife appt next week and will mention it but wondered if anyone else is the same?

I've been very thirsty too. I'm only 9 weeks, but have had bouts of extreme thirst on and off and I've read lots of other people on here have had something similar.

I think in some cases it can be a sign of gestational diabetes, so definitely worth discussing with MW, but from what I can tell it seems like it's a pretty common pregnancy symptom! That's what I'm hoping, anyway. Smile

And congratulations!

Yup very normal. I've been quaffing milk like nobody's business! I'm 32 weeks and don't have GD so think it's just one of those things :-)

Yes, I'm 9+3 and have been more thirsty than usual. I would say if you feel thirsty, you need the fluid, so drink, even if it does mean extra wees in the night.

i'm more thirsty thannormal but i wouldn't say it was excessive, I figure if I am peeing all the time then that fluid needs replacing. I wuld still talk to MW about it though.

Yep me to. I'm also 16wks and have noticed this for a while. Some days are worse than others but I'm just going with it. I figure you should listen to what your body needs when your pregnant. My body is no longer mine its being rented out and I'm just here to give it what it wants!

Thank you for your replies! It has reassured me to hear from others having the same. I'll still mention to midwife to be on safe side but will just keep glugging for now! Smile

Yeah I'm 33 weeks and been ragingly thirsty the whole time. Have been tested for GD and don't have it. GP said it's normal to be this thirsty.
