Breasts were becoming painful and engorged, read somewhere that a good way to relieve this was to squeeze some of the milk out.... horrah! Problem solved! But now they're leaking ALL the time, and are even more painful, so I have to squeeze them for any sort of relief! I wouldn't mind if I was breastfeeding, but I'm only 22w4d!!! Is anybody else in a similar position? Or has been and knows any tips???

I got milk early with my 2nd, not as early as 22/4 tho, maybe about 30, what I did was expressed everything I could and froze it in the milk bags ready for dd lol. Alternating hot and cold helped with the pain too x

will it turn into "real milk" if i express too much? and will this be bad for the baby when she comes? (does she need the colostrum milk for first few days?). i've had a few miscarriages, one which went far enough to start milk leaking, so i don't know if this would have triggered it early. x

Don't worry about the colostrum/milk thing. MW reassured me that you produce colostrum for your newborn and the milk then comes in around day 3 after giving birth. Think it's to do with different hormones. There are mums who breastfeed during pregnancy. They still produce colostrum for their new baby.

I was told breastmilk actually contains colostrum, so don't worry, your baby will still get all the goodness even if it's milk. A friend of mine had a second baby and was still breastfeeding her DC1 at the time and her milk never turned back to colostrum.
