Having another nightmare pregnancy on so many levels.

Saw the physio yesterday as am having a lot of muscular skeletal problems. She was ever so lovely and I am going to be getting quite a bit of input during this pregnancy and post birth. One thing that she suggested was crutches. I don't venture out far and am in agony just after a short walk.

I don't really have any support so I am trying to muddle through the best I can. I have two children and my youngest dd is just three. How on earth do people manage to venture out of the house with a toddler when they are using crutches? It will mean that I don't have my hands free to keep her safe. I don't like the idea of relying on my seven yr old to hand hold, and I know that this just won't work.

Please can anyone else share their experiences or come up with some helpful suggestions?

Cheers xx.

You could use reigns? Maybe have the strap in your hand while using crutches? The reigns I have unclip at the back to one longer 'lead' rather than a loop. Would make it possible with crutches though not easy.

I was on crutches with dc2,3 and 4 :( when I was expecting dc3, dc 2 was 19m and I put him in a buggy and had use it like crutches if that makes sense! As he had walking problems on top. When dc4 I had the two younger ones in the buggy as well but to be honest I was in too much pain so stayed at home most of the time!

I kept my crutches in the car to avoid them being used as a toy and someone getting hurt! I also will ask older ones to fetch me things and reward with a sticker etc and they would get a treat when daddy got home or at the weekend when I had extra help :) dh also does the shopping and runs most errands :)

Am of with dc4 & dd3 is now 2.3, I've been on crutches for 15 weeks now and have managed with her on reins. She also holds one crutch instead of my hand.
I now rarely leave the house though as I can only walk a few steps even with crutches.

Many thanks for the responses. I am sorry that I have not had the opportunity to respond sooner due to a horrible week that I do not wish to repeat for as long as I live.

I have thought about the long singular rein so it is good to hear that people are using reins with some success. My 3 yr old is prone to meltdowns when we are out, I know that it is likely that I am going to be pretty stuck with no pushchair at hand.

I guess it is just one of those things that I am just going to have to put up with.
