I know this has been done to death but...what happens now? Just found out I'm expecting and fingers crossed everything goes OK this will be my first. I assumed I needed to visit the Doctor to confirm etc but the receptionist seemed vague and gave me the community midwife number and said the midwife would let me know if I needed to see the doctor. I've tried the (wythenshawe) community midwife number loads today but no response. Do I just keep trying? Do I wait for a few weeks? I still can't believe it so in a bit I a daze! By my reckoning I'm about 6 weeks...

First and foremost, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

Keep trying to ring - the receptionist at my doctors was useless and gave me wrong information, I eventually got hold of the midwife who told me the receptionist had basically chatted a load of balls! I rang the maternity unit at local hospital eventually, and they gave me the correct number for midwife (they gave me a mobile number). My midwife is pretty hard to get hold of!

I got seen by the midwife at 6 weeks, she came to my home as that was more convenient for both of us on that specific day, lots of form filling and "nosy" but necessary questions at this appointment. My 12 week scan was booked at this appointment and I was seen by the midwife again at 11 weeks for bloods (sometimes you have your bloods done on same day as scan).

Unfortunately, there is a lot of waiting around for appointments at this stage! Just enjoy knowing there is a little bean growing in your belly!! Download an app for your phone such as BabyBumpFree - gives you a new bit of info every day which is exciting!
