Hi, this is my first post, bit of a lurker!

I'm 11 wks today and having really bad heartburn the last couple of hours (though I get heartburn quite often anyway). It's like someone is squeezing the top of my stomach, a really painful tightening feeling iykwim, and then loads of acid goes up my chest and throat. I've taken some gaviscon which worked for about 10 mins, then it started happening every 5 mins again. Have tried drinking some water, eating some dry food etc.

Please has anyone got any tips?! I really don't want to be downing tons of gaviscon all night!

Thanks Smile

hey i had this with my first baby. i took rennie tablets and they really helped me :) also when you go to bed to help with the acid reflux prop yourself up with more pillows :) good luck xx

Ask your midwife for Omeprazole - it's a once a day (I think!) tablet that really does work.

Second the omeprazole - had heartburn way after my morning sickness ended - went to GP last week and she prescribed it. Have been able to eat again!

Thanks ladies Smile

Will try rennies in the meantime as I remember they worked well when I had acid reflux as a teen, and will definitely make a drs appointment to ask about omeprazole tomorrow. Thanks for the help! x
