I've got 10 days to go before baby no.3 is due. If it's a boy, I'd very much like to use my brother's name, David, as a middle name. Any ideas what first names could go with it?

Peter David (my brother's name!)

catgirl · 18/04/2006 15:41

but thinking about it - what letter does your surname begin with - you have to be sure the initials won't spell anything rude/silly!

petunia · 18/04/2006 15:54

Our surname begins with W.

Thanks for all your suggestions.

Andrew David?

lol

my third baby is due in 11 days. If it is a boy we are also having David as a middle name (dhs name, my dads name) and like you, also CANNOT think of a good boy's name....

GDG · 18/04/2006 15:56

Thomas and James go nicely with David. David is my all time favourite boys name! Love it!

Enid · 18/04/2006 15:57

yes I love it

would have it as first name but too weird to have same name as dh Wink

tortoiseshell · 18/04/2006 15:58

I like James David, also like

Benjamin David
Michael David
Patrick David
Steven David
or if you are feeling a bit more unusual...
Abraham David

I love the name David btw - it has a lovely meaning as well 'blessed'. It is dh's dad's name, and so we wouldn't use it as a first name, but I think it is a great name!

Enid · 18/04/2006 15:59

actually have just realised I never think about whether a first name 'goes' with a second name. I suppose if you think of number of syllables it is good to get something that sounds right.

I think it's more important that the first name goes with the surname. I mean how often do you use your middle name anyway? So long as the rhythm is OK I don't think it's a problem. Lots of nice names should go very well with David.

lilibet · 18/04/2006 16:14

David is a wonderful name, isn't it GDG? Smile

but do agree that is is more important that it gopes with your surname.

My ds2 is David Alistair, not sure that Alistair David sounds as good!

petunia · 18/04/2006 16:31

When I was expecting DD2, we thought about James but didn't get as far as a 2nd name. Thinking about it, James David sounds quite nice.

I love the name sooo much that one ds has it as his middle name and another has it as his first name! Ha ha - lacking in inspiration somewhat!!
