Hi all,
I will be 17 weeks tomorrow (first baby) and I am soon excited. I keep feeling like it is an absolute age before I have my baby, and wish I didn't have to wait! Due June 16th, so still have a long time to go. How did you ladies cope with this? Can't stop reading mumsnet, it's great as you lot are making me feel like everything is fine and dandy! Had CVS a few weeks ago, went through massive panics then and once I found out all was well, I have determined to not let myself get all stressed and wound up.
EEEEEEEEEP! Can't wait!

I'm due one day before you!! I'm really excited too, soooo impatient haha. This is my second baby and was really miserable until about 14 weeks, so am over the moon to be feeling better and finally able to enjoy being pregnant. Don't really have any tips to make time go faster, but do take advantage of feeling better during the 2nd trimester to do stuff as later on it will become more difficult. So stuff like organising baby stuff/room and going on holiday or day trips.

I'm 16+4, also with my first and very excited toooooo!! I can't help scrutinising my bump (currently lots of gas and air but looks like a bump!). And the midwife called me yesterday while I was in the middle of a very boring statistics thing for my phd and asked if I could go in that afternoon instead of next week. Err.. YES! So I heard the baby's heart beat for the first time and the noise of the swishing and swaying, it was amazing!! (so much more interesting that statistics)...

Like you Mawgatron I was petrified until 12 week scan (is that CVS? not sure what that is) but now determined to stay calm.

It is so exciting and now rather difficult to concentrate on my phd / anything else!!!

Let's keep in touch! x

Oh dear, I feel for you, because I thought my first pregnancy dragged on forever, especially the 2nd trimester went on and on and on, it was an unbearable wait. Still, better be excited than terrified!! mumsnet saved my sanity

This post has really made me smile...I'm also I guess 18 weeks now with number 4, but I completely remember that feeling with number one!!! I couldn't wait and it felt like an age! So lovely!

I'm 18 weeks with my first as well and, after a turbulent year, it cannot come soon enough! It's been worse this last two weeks because I haven't had work to take my mind off it. I can't wait to get on with decorating and sorting through all the bags of donations we've already received. Congratulations everyone :)

Congratulations! I'm due 19th June. Are you finding out the sex at 20wk scan?
DH thinks its too early to look at paint colours so I've been online and signed up to loads of baby clubs (Sainsburys, boots, asda) as I will then find out when they have offers or events on to hopefully save some money when we need to start buying nappies etc

Mawgatron · 05/01/2013 19:24

I didn't initially want to find out the sex, but have come round to the idea. DH wants to know, and to be honest, I think when I actually get in there I will be desperate to know.

CVS is like amniocentesis, but they extract some placenta through your stomach, they picked it up from my blood test at 12 week scan - it is a test for downs and some other nasties. Luckily all was clear, but had a major panic waiting for results - after that I decided not to stress anymore. Cant be dealing with it!

DH is a decorator, so there is no way I am going to be allowed to do any decorating - he is much better at it than me anyway, but LOVE looking at things on the net. still undecided about what we actually need, and what is going to be a waste of money. Good buddy of mine has a 1yr old though, so she has said don't buy anything without talking to her first in case she has it!

Congratulations all you lovely ladies, it is lovely being on here as I feel like I can find out EVERYTHING I may need from you voices of experience!

OMG though June2013 - PHD and preggers? you are one brave lady!
