1st baby - when will I get a bump?

This is my first an I'm currently 14weeks tomorrow and just wondering when I should start to get a bump? I know there's no set time but just wondering when everyone else started to show. I did have a bump between 10-13 weeks but that was just bloating I think, back to my normal tummy now

Just looked at my photos and I could see a very slight body shape change at 16 weeks but you can't really tell until about 20 weeks. It's that transition between looking like you had a big dinner to actually having a pregnant shape isn't it.

Depends totally on your height, body shape and other factors. If you're tall, you may well not show much until well past 20 weeks, even if you feel different. And some people show a lot very early.

I'm 18 weeks and, unless people know I'm pregnant, I don't have much of a bump yet. Saying that, I am a bit of a larger lady so I think it's harder to tell. My clothes are a lot tighter so I think things will be definitely noticeable with me in the next couple of weeks :) I hope so anyway - I am used to being fat but don't want to be mistaken for even fatter :)

This is the worst answer, it all depends. It depends on how the baby is positioned, the length of your body and the strength of your abdominal muscles. I got one pretty early on (now she's huge at 34 weeks) but I've seen someone at 24 weeks with barely a blip. Don't worry about the bump, everyone will comment on it no matter if it's big or small, just enjoy it when it turns up!

I second WindyWillow - I was showing at 15 wks (petite and had lost a fair bit of weight the year before), my friend who is taller didn't really show until 20 wks, another only has a tiny bump at 24 (average height)! All of us have babies that are growing "normally" (so to speak).

Bunnychan · 04/01/2013 19:01

16 weeks- people who knew I was pregnant said I had a bump.
18 weeks- much more obvious bump.
Now 20 weeks- undeniable bump.
I was bloated all the way through then at 14/15 weeks it went and I felt/looked less pregnant. I was gutted x

I just looked chunky till about 20 weeks. Then shazam! Bump overnight!!

StuckOnARollercoaster · 04/01/2013 19:19

Chunky till this week when it's now definitely a bump. I'm 18 weeks

plannedshock · 04/01/2013 19:25

I didn't show for ages just a little podge now I'm 26wks and EVERYONE is pointing it out for me now!!! I was a size 10 5ft 7" before started obviously showing at about 20ish wks!

Rache1S · 04/01/2013 19:47

I am also pregnant for the first time. I am 15+2, 5ft3" and a size 10 top and 12 bottom.
I find that first thing in the morning my belly looks normal and then gets larger throughout the day each time I eat until I have a little bump before bed. It's very frustrating on the clothing front at the moment as an outfit which fits first thing is too small by evening! Confused

sleepingsatellite · 04/01/2013 19:51

I didn't start showing with DS1 until I was about 30 weeks, had a little tummy, but didn't need mat clothes. I was pretty underweight (for my height) when I got pregnant, and then I lost just over a stone with HG. He was still 8lb 4oz 12 days early though so he must have been sitting round the back!

ThedementedPenguin · 04/01/2013 19:52

I didn't get a bump until closer to 30 weeks. Nobody could tell I was pregnant throughout as even at 40+ weeks I only just had a very small bump. People where very shocked when they found out how far along I was.

On the other hand my sister had a bump very early on, she was very noticeably pregnant by 20 weeks. So you just never know.

Pandasandmonkeys · 04/01/2013 19:54

I'm 5'5" and was a size 12. I got my bump at around 25 weeks, and by 30 weeks there was no mistaking the bump! It was my first baby, I'm alot softer round the tummy now so next time I think it'll pop sooner!

PenelopeChipShop · 04/01/2013 19:58

Took quite a while for me, I think I probably posted exactly this question at around your stage too! I didn't tell my boss I was pregnant til the last week you legally can (I think 25 weeks pg?) and he was v surprised ( ie because I didn't look it at all! ) so not really til after that! But when it came it was very obvious. Everyone is different though!

beaver33 · 04/01/2013 21:27

I'm 5ft 3in and a size 8 (or was...). Started showing in an obviously pregnant, rather than chubby, way quite early around 16 weeks, but I suspect because I'm quite little generally there wasn't anywhere for the bump to go but outwards!
Now 22 weeks and have a very noticable pregnancy bump and in maternity bottoms and skirts.
But everyone's different!

ThedementedPenguin · 04/01/2013 23:21

Oh forgot to say I'm 5 foot 2 (and a bit) and was a size 8 before I got pregnant.
