How exciting! I've read to have some choc or fizzy juice before you go in to stimulate baby. Let us know how you get on.

RightUpMyRue · 04/01/2013 17:27

I've also read, on here, about having something sugary to eat or drink to liven the baby up so they're not sleeping but I wondered if there was anything else which might ensure it goes well and we get good shots of him.

Yep, what the others have said. I had a 4-D scan and thought a pure fruit juice and some haribo would do the trick. Nope! I was sent off to drink lucozade (bluerrggh!) as it had the most sugar of any drink in newsagents. So I'd drink that 15 minsbefore having your scan to get your LO moving. Good luck!

We also have our 4d scan tomorrow. Am so excited!! We are going to Babybond in Southampton.

Will remember to drink some lucozade beforehand. Can't wait to see what she looks like.

Good luck, lets hope our little ones cooperate!!

RightUpMyRue · 04/01/2013 18:59

Excellent. Not massively keen on lucozade but will endure it to make sure the scan goes well.

Enjoy it - I loved our 4d scan of DS. The time went so quickly but we've got some great pictures. And I don't know why I was surprised - but when he was born he looked exactly like his scan pics. I guess I wasn't expecting it to be so clear and accurate!

mumagain38 · 04/01/2013 19:03

lucazade ( even though i felt AWFUL drinking it like i was drugging her or some thing!) How many weeks are you JO,RIGHTUP??? i was 17 and she was a bit skinny, got a pic of her fist pumping the air with her little face then if u look down her pelvis bones! its a bit weird, we are booked in for 29 week one too as they are a bit fatter :) you will love it tho xxxx

RB04 · 04/01/2013 20:42

I had a 4d scan with my third. I waited til 27 weeks so I could get a fab view. He was born looking exactly like his pictures/DVD.

I had a can of fizzy drink and chocolate with me but he was still fast asleep. They had me running up and down stairs to wake him which it did but not for long. To be honest it did not really matter as I still saw him, his face and body, could double check the sex and also put my mind at rest that my placenta had moved enough for natural birth!

Pregnant with no 4 now and will be doing again!

RightUpMyRue · 04/01/2013 20:43

I'm 27 weeks mumagain so hopefully he'll have a bit of fat on his bones. Smile

On the website of the clinic we're going to it said 27 weeks was the ideal so I'm hopeful of good shots.

It took us a quite long time to get PG and we've had some ups and downs so far throughout. It almost hasn't really felt real even though there's a lively squirmy baby inside me. Seeing his little face and body will make it more real for me I think, I'm so looking forward to it.

Eat an ice lolly or ice cream before you go.

I had three 4 d scans because they couldn't see hs face. Also, I think I took a bag of peas. It worked.

I remember having to a drink of water and walk up and down the curbs outside the scanning place.only the ice lolly worked.

RightUpMyRue · 04/01/2013 20:54

Peas? To eat or put on your tummy? Neither sound very appealing!

Do lucozade do ice lollies? That would be ideal.

rightup ah we were the same in conceiving, didnt think we would get there but we did! Cant wait! let us know how it goes tommoro! exciting times!! xxx

lolalotta · 04/01/2013 21:18

They sent me out for an ice lolly/ lucazade/ run up and down the stairs/ sweets...all these combined got her moving!!! She's now 3! Grin Enjoy!!!!

Jo1984uk · 04/01/2013 21:29

I'm also 27 weeks, we were hoping to have the scan christmas eve but they then decided to give all the staff the day off. I'm glad I didn't have it then to be honest as i've heard the baby will have more fat under the skin so you can see the facial features better.

I have a feeling I may cry!! Will have half the family there though, there will be 6 of us altogether..

Running? Will definately need the lucozade then!! Sweets? Sure I can manage some of those too.

Heavywheezing · 05/01/2013 20:34

Sorry peas on your tummy.
My sil, who's a gp told me to do this, it was the only thing that worked. Lovely, but because of having to Take three goes, I was on my own:(

ArethaSnellHutt · 05/01/2013 20:39

How do you get a 4D scan? I would love one! I'm 24wks now. I take it they are something you pay for?

FoofFighter · 05/01/2013 22:34

google 4d scan + your area. babybond are the most well known and yes you arrange it and pay for it yourself.

Rue so how did it go then :)

Littlemissexpecting · 06/01/2013 00:14

How was it?!

RightUpMyRue · 06/01/2013 10:24

I've uploaded one of the photos Smile

It was lovely but....the baby had his arm up by his face the entire time. We were there for 45 minutes. I tried jumping, wiggling, peeing, poking, everything to get him to move his arm down but the only time he did it was pick his foot up and bring that up to his face too!

To get the best shots for the pics and DVD I spent most of the appt lying on my left side facing away from the screen so missed all the live stuff.

We did get some very cute pictures of him and I am pleased with them and it is amazing that we've seen him even though he's not due for another 12 weeks but I would have liked one or two without an arm in the way.

With the package we bought I've been offered a re-scan to try and get some better shots but there's no guarantee that when I go again he'll be in a better position, it may be worse, both arms and legs might be in the way!

He wasn't asleep, just stubborn!

I would still recommend it to everyone though, lovely to see whats going on in there.

fantastic picture :)

Littlemissexpecting · 06/01/2013 14:43

Excellent glad you enjoyed it. What company did you use?

RightUpMyRue · 06/01/2013 14:49

I don't think it's a national company. It was at a clinic here in St Albans, Verulam Clinic. They have physiotherapists, psychotherapists, hypnobirthing teachers, massage courses, yoga etc and also private sonographers.

The clinic is very nice and if anyone is local enough to use it I would recommend it.
