Hello All

I have just found out I am pregant today, I had no idea and was taking the test to have it off my mind, as my period was late. (I have recently come off the contfaceptive pill-so assumed I was still irregular.)

I have calculated I am 5weeks pregant (basing this from first day of my last period) But of course it has been Xmas....

I have been drinking, (three nights more than daily units since I beleive I concieved) eating pate, blue cheese, camembert, brie!!! Thought I have been taking folic acid- just because I came off my pill so thought safe thing to do.

I am so worried and now panicking that I will loose the baby. I am going to phone the doctor tomo to make an appt but just after some advice.

At the moment i am in shock and waiting for a test to turn negative, doesnt seem real.

Man Thanks

Just relax! I was on holiday the first week I was pregnant - booze was consumed! It's early days so its not like anything will be passing across a placenta yet. The best things you can do are - keep taking the folic acid, take vitamin D too, avoid the high risk foods and alcohol now.

Congratulations! :)

Just before I found I was pg (5 weeks) I went out and ended up with my head in the toilet all night.

Needless to say dd is fine.

Now you know you can do what you can.

The baby lives off its own sac until about 7 weeks so youve not affected it- try not to worry! Congrats.

I too was an oblivious drinker up until being 5 weeks pregnant. It had been my best friends hen weekend so alcohol had been consumed, shall we say, excessively!!

I couldn't understand how a hangover could last so long...turned out to be the joy known as morning sickness.

I too worried my baby would be born pickled, but my Dd is now 10 months old and did not come out smelling of sambuca Grin

I found out when I was 7/8 weeks, I'd had 2 girlie weekends away, both involving heavy drinking, parties & nights out with friends & not forgetting my works Christmas party 4 days before where I possibly consumed my own body weight in alcohol, I worried like mad until I saw my midwife & she's told me not to worry myself about it. As long as your sensible from now on I would not panic! Smile

Thanks so much for the replies, and also for making me laugh lol!! I have doctors appt Tuesday so exciting. All new for me, we were gonna plan for after march, but just happened little bit earlier lol!! Xmas is always a sinking season so happy to know I don't need to panic. Still doesn't feel real. :-/ x

It's OK during those early weeks as the embryo hasn't implanted yet (although obviously don't go out boozing now!). I had an INCREDIBLY drunk night about a week after conception (so around 3w pregnant by LMP) and was worried until someone told me that and put my mind at rest.
