Hi,
I've just moved to Watford, just wondering if anyone on here was in or local to Watford? Not heard great things about the maternity ward wondering if anyone has any experience of it? X x

Hi!
Im from Watford but living in Hemel now. My sisters experience of Watford General was appalling. Know of other friends with similar issues. Hence I have decided to go privately in Watford General at Knutsford Suite, which seems to be a world away!
Worth trying to scrape some pennies together for I think!
Good Luck! xx

Hi, I'm in Watford. No experience of Watford General (gave birth in Colchester) but if you want to know anything else I might be able to help!

Hi! there are some Watford mummy's our there hurrah! Grin
I've heard pretty dire things about Watford general. This baby is breech at the mo so im looking at a c section unless he/she moves , wondering if it's worth seeing if I can transfer to another hospital?

Do either of you know of any friendly mother and baby groups? And pregnancy yoga groups? I literally know no one in Watford so will need to get out and meet people ASAP after bump is born.

Thanks for replying x x

Loubeebaby how many weeks are you? If you don't mind me asking how much are you paying to go private? I might consider it!! X x

Leavesden Green childrens centre has a group called Pandas for mother and baby. I moved here when DS was 13mo so not sure of many other baby groups! The church of the Nazarene on The Brow does a post natal excersize group you can take baby to and the Cha Cha Cha cafe at Cassiobury Park does a few baby groups and Yoga.

Thanks for the info bullet :-)
I have also been looking for pregnancy yoga groups and thought about mother and baby groups for when baby arrives. TBH I have been dreading them as I dont want to go to any groups with competitive Mums! I hate that!

@Nicky1306 - If your having a cesearean at Watford the procedure itself should be fine but its the aftercare that is virtually non exsistant.
I am 6 weeks and going for my early scan on Tuesday with Mr Sheridan. So hoping to book up for ELCS with him then.
The costs vary depending on what care package you choose....this is the link: www.thebirthteam.com
How many weeks are you?

Let me know how you get on xx

Hello and congratulations Nicky, I live in St. Albans. I'm due to have DC3 at Watford later this month - had DC2 there in 2009. Had to stay in a couple of nights and thought the care was fantastic. Needed to go in at 25 wks this time because of a bleed, and again, care was excellent. Other friends that have delivered in Watford all had good experiences too. Do have one that plumped for Knutsford who on reflection, felt she paid an awful lot of money for a flat screen TV and en suite - her care was from same team as main ward, and she felt pretty isolated in her private room. Good luck with your pregnancy and birth whatever you decide.

Hi there. I had my son at watford. Started in birthing unit, then delivery suite and finally emergency c section! All the midwives and surgery team were amazing but i agree that the katherine ward post natal was horrendous. If you can afford a private room go for it as i had no sleep for 5 nights! My friend is currently in there and things havent improved much. The trick is not to spend too long in there! Do not worry about the actual birth though as they really are amazing at that part!!!
