Pulled tummy when moving too quickly - coughing/sneezing

Hi all,

I'm 7wks 3days and new to Mumsnet.

This is my 3rd pregnancy my 1st & 2nd ended in miscarriages at 7wks & 6wks. We have been trying to conceive for 17months so I'm really nervous.

I have a reassurance scan booked in 2 weeks time so I'm hoping all is ok this time.

With all 3 pregnancies if I move too quickly, from sitting to standing I can easily pull/twist my stomach. This also happens if I cough/sneeze whilst lying down. Has anyone else experienced this?

Good luck to everyone on here :-)

Hello and congratulations! I hope this pregnancy works out well for you in 2013 Smile what you describe sounds common to many pregnancies in my opinion. Certainly I have it when I'm pregnant - I cant cough or sneeze lying down without pulling my legs up to avoid a searing pain. I read that this is due to the hormone relaxin which causes your ligaments to relax in preparation for the expanding uterus. Hope this helps - I hope you're not worrying too much.

I get this also :( its awful. Never had any medical help for it so I'm not sure if there's anything that can be done about it

Just think its a case of taking it easy and getting some rest

Hi Clabsyqueen,
Thank you very much for your message. I had read that too & thought it might have been that. Your message has reassured me a lot. Thanks Smile
