I would love to know the answer to this too. I have my hair highlighted, have already had it highlighted once during this pregnancy, but stopped getting it done in my previous pregnancy.

I did all through my pregnancies. The biggest risk is that you'll throw up because of the smell! There might be a small chemical risk, but I always figured that my unborn child was more at risk if he came out to find a mad and deshevilled (sp?) mother!

Same as Fisil.

Theoretically, your PG hormones can cause the colour to come out differently and / or reactions to occur; it's also the case that dyes aren't tested for safety in PG in the way a drug would be, yet they are topical and presumably absorbed to some extent. So many hairdressers and companies would recommend avoidance during PG, or at least stiking to semi's and you may choose to decide to do that. I chose to, but gave up rapidly and never had a bad effect.

I got my hair dyed two weeks ago and had to spend quite a while in the hairdressers as the first colour didnt 'take' and they had to dry my hair and put another colour on top!! There doesnt seem to be any evidence that it is harmful but the results can be a bit unpredictable.

I coloured my hair with permanent dye right through my last pregnancy and didnt suffer any adverse effects, but did find when i wanted to try a different colour it didnt take.

i wouldn't have an all over semi or permanent just because it is in contact with your scalp so if it is actually dangerous while pregnant chemicals would be in contact with you IYSWIM

I can't see any problem with having foil or cap highlights where the dye isn't actually touching your scalp:) that's what I'd do

Hi- My brother-in-law is a hairdresser and dyed my hair yesterday with bleach highlights using foils. He assures me it is absolutely safe.
