Constant thirst?

Hi,
Stupid question! I'm 10 weeks pregnant, and this last week I CANNOT stop drinking water or squash? I literally have been drinking about 4 litres a day, but nothing will stop me feeling really thirsty and I keep getting a really dry mouth and throat! Is this normal?
Sorry for lack of education on this subject!

I'm 8 weeks and more thirsty than usual, I am putting it down to the fact I am peeing every 10 minutes 45 minutes. I will be mentioning to my MW however, maybe you should do the same?

Hello, I had this in the first trimester and the start of the second trimester and also non stop wee-ing. Think it settled down at around 15 weeks (thirst and constant wee breaks). For me it was pints and pints of lemon/sour drinks and had to be full sugar. It is worth mentioning to your midwife though, they tend to do ursine glucose tests as standard to check for any problems.

I had this in the first trimester and it returned about week 30 - now 38 weeks and still pretty thirsty!

Glad I'm not alone drink-pee-drink-pee this is my new cycle not that i'm complaining

Mylittlepuds · 02/01/2013 21:11

How thirsty are we talking? Unquenchable? If so I'd recommend getting tested for gestational diabetes.

Thanks :)
Glad I'm not alone!
Yeah, nothing satiates it... So I'll talk to mw just to make sure :) thanks again!

I'm 34+1 and have been constantly thirsty all the way through (no GD but agree with Mylittlepuds, this should be checked out

stowsettler · 03/01/2013 20:09

Mind you I've always drunk loads (not just booze!)...

SlightlyBabyCrazed · 03/01/2013 21:26

I had extreme thirst - and mostly had to tinkle through the night and was normal through day - turned out to be gestational diabetes - worth talking to midwife about it as they can monitor it and test you early

It should settle down, i think its because of the extra blood that youre busy making. im 18wks now and not half as bad as i was to start with, i couldnt find anything that quenched it at the start, except milk.

Have you tried different drinks?
