Has anyone had to have one?

I've got one booked at the end of Jan due to my high bmi and just wondered what would happen if she was too big/small would they then discuss options with me? What might they be? I Will be seeing a consultant afterwards.

Also did anyone get a scan picture at a growth scan? I will be 33 weeks but not sure if baby will be too big to fit on the screen or if we'd be allowed a picture.

I had a scan at about 34 weeks with my last pregnancy, I cant remember the reason, They dont really offer you a picture because baby is quite big then! I dont see why having a high BMI would be a big worry? Is there any other problems with your pregnancy? x

My baby was big so they said they would induce me on my due date so he wouldn't get too much bigger - took them 5 days and a c section but hey ho!

My friend's baby was small for dates, in her case they planned to only let her go one week overdue and would then induce in case the placenta failed too quick. She went into labour naturally and had a healthy girl weighing 6lbs 14.

I did get a scan picture, there's no way your baby will be too big to fit onto the screen, but you might just get a headshot (I did)

Good luck

you may not be able to get a picture - it's quite a technical scan

I had one as i was measuring small

they measured thigh bones, head circumference etc

if there are concerns you will be scanned again (possibly weekly) - if your baby appears to be measuring big or small

Thank you. It was just my high bmi which made the consultant book me in for a growth scan (no diabetes/other issues) but I'm quite glad about it as i was measuring 3 weeks bigger at my last midwife app!

I don't mind a head shot, or even a foot or hand shot really. We just want a pic just for me and dh without having to have 10 printed out for everyone else like we did with the 12 and 20 week ones! And TBF I can't wait to see my baby again even if she doesn't fit all on the screen!

I'm hoping they will just tell me everything's ok and they will just let me get on with things. Hope i don't have to be induced as that seems a bit scary!

I had a pic at my 28wks growth scan but they told me I probably wouldnt get 1 on my next 34wk scan .... im measureing big but then I always do all of mone have been over 9lb but ive never been induced earlly with any1of them . they dont tend to Induced for that reason alone esp as the growth scans are not 100% accurate . its nice to get extra scans tho and they really do look alot bigger than the 20wk ones.
