2nd detailed scans!

I'm guessing I may be on my own for this one, but has anyone else been called back for a second detailed scan... I'll be 23 weeks then and they said they couldn't see baby's heart chambers... Although the heart was visible and she could see ventricles... Very confusing!

Also, in my scans I had from my 20 week, our little one had their legs up but the sonographer said she wasn't 100% sure of the gender, but thinks its a girl!

If I'm honest, I've heard lots of complaints about the sonographer and I don't think she did her checks properly. She guessed my weight and height, didn't listen to anything I said or ask me anything. Just muttered now and then to herself...

Should I be concerned about having to go back though?

I had to go back because they couldn't see the baby's spine, I think being called back from the 20wk is quite common? I've spoken to a few friends who had to go back for various reasons.
My recall scan went fine although I did worry until the sonographer said everything looked ok.
On the plus side its another peek at your baby :).

The exact same things happened to me . They could only see three whole chambers and they have to be able to see all 4 . Baby was lying with his spine facing outdated so they couldn't see the heart properly through the spine . I had to go back the following week and everything was fine .

If your not happy with the sonographer I'm sure you could phone the hospital and ask for someone else ? And ask them to recheck the sex as well !!

Honestly I wouldn't worry about it at all loads of people have to get rescanned for all sorts of things .

Hi when i had my 20 week scan it was really detailed but he could get a good view of the babys heart as he was so active. When i went for my follow up the lady saw the criss cross hot cross bun as she described it to us straight away! Im sure everything is fine they just have to be very thorough at the 20week scan. Our sonnographer also thought we were having a girl and said he was 75% sure until he stopped and said he was sure it was a boy as he froze the screen and we saw babys willy! I think they always like to be on the safe side just think another chance to peak at baby x

I have to go back on Friday for another try at the anomaly scan as baby was in an awkward position even after I walked round for 15 mins. I wouldn't worry too much, I think it's quite common to be recalled because the scan is so detailed and important to check lots of things.

Just wasn't sure as its my first! I don't think that they've called me back for anything major as baby is quite happily moving and thrashing about! just to check things I think! X

We got called back for a second scan as they couldn't see the baby's brain clearly. It's really common so please try not too worry too much.

I went back today for the re-attempt at the anomaly scan, but the baby was still in an awkward position, so they can't check the bottom of the spine, so I have to go back again next week - hopefully all will be well. Nice to have an extra look at the baby though!

I had to go back yesterday as they couldnt complete a couple of the checks on the face and chest as baby was lying on his face.

I wouldn't worry.
