I recall blood tests being taken at both my pregnancies in the early stages, but can't remember if anynvaginal swabs were taken.

I'm just wondering if these including a screening for sexually transmitted diseases?

Does anyone know if STDs screens are part of the antenatal appointments in early stage pregnancy?

I had a routine HIV (and maybe hepC??) blood test with no1, same time as 12 week scan. I'm pretty sure that I've only had Iron levels checked with no2 though

  • different GP surgeries/MW teams!

Yes, with both my pregnancies I have been std checked as routine. Can't be certain of everything they tested but I know they checked for HIV, syphilis and clamydia. Possibly others as well. All were done with blood tests at booking in appointment at 10 weeks. No swabs taken Smile

(no swabs with either)

National screening offers you HIV, rubella, Hep B and Syphillis, chlamydia screening offered if you are under 25. That's in the UK, also a Full Blood Count to check anaemia and a Group and Save to have your blood group on file. Vaginal swabs are not routine in the UK.
