Red blotchy face - is this another delight of pregnancy?

Normally have a pale and freckly complexion. This morning while drinking some juice my boyfriend said your face has gone weird - all red and blotchy. That was about 2 hours ago and its still really red and hot to touch. Nowhere else on my body and nowhere else feels hot. (No new creams or anything has been put on my face or new washing powders)

If its still there in a couple more hours I'll phone NHS Direct, but I'm guessing/hoping this is just another one of those things our bodies puts us through??? Has anyone else had similar and can put my mind at rest?

So typical - going out for nice meal at 5, and as I don't wear much makeup I haven't got anything heavy duty enough to cover it up!

26 + 5 and I've got this permanently! Apparently your body can react to things you've been using for years in pregnancy. I've not managed to find what is causing it and only using sensitive skin things. Sometimes a cold flannel helps reduce the redness but the blotchy ness is still there.

My facialist took one look at me pregnant and said do you know what you are having- boy or girl? I said no. She said your skin says its a girl- oestrogen pumping through your skin making it all red & blotchy. Don't get that with a boy. A few weeks later- scan shows its a girl!

She made me a calming oil to use at night, and under spf in the daytime.
Using lots of foundation, its horrible!

If its any consolation, I always have a blotchy face and always have done. Gets a lot better if I e45 it after a bath , you could try that?

Thanks all, reassuring to know I'm not the only one. Blotchiness still here this morning - perfect for going back to work, starting a new contract and meeting people who will think I have a contagious rash!
Was able to tone down a little yesterday with makeup so hopefully won't look too frightening! That's a right pain that I'll have to faff around with makeup rather than a natural 'blooming' glow of pregnancy!!!

Been for regular midwife appointment today and she confirmed that its nothing to be concerned about - just one of the wonderful side effects of the various hormones that are now circulating around our bodies...
Fortunately it seems to have calmed down a bit - but I dont think its connected to anything I did - just had to live with it for a couple of days!
