Do u think you can tell if bp has gone up without doing a reading?

Sounds like a ridiculous question but I've got a feeling my bp has gone up. I've puffed up over night in my face and hands and just feel different. I had pre eclampsia on my last pregnancy so I'm wondering whether to ring community midwife to see if she can pop out and check my blood pressure for me?

Definitely get it checked out. It could be nothing but swelling is often a sign of raised bp. Do you have any headaches, any vision problems?

I've got a mild headache, nothing like the thumping one I had on my last pregnancy when I did have pre eclampsia. And I'm not sleeping so I seem to have a constant headache. Think il try and get hold of community midwife

Yes. I developed high bp when 8 months pregnant! No symptoms, i just knew something wasnt right and went to see my midwife then told to go straight to hospital! Best to get checked.

poppy I'm 35+5 weeks so at same stage as you were. I developed it first time round at 34 weeks. Just found out my dad has a bp monitor! How handy! If its up do I ring antenatal ward?

Yes. They always want to see you right away if there are any problems, especially with bp. You should have an emergency contact number in your notes.

Wow well bp was 159/105 when I did it first. It's now gone down to
136/89. I've got antenatal clinic in the morning and a consultant appointment I really don't want to miss so wondering whether to just keep an eye on bp tonight and hang on til tomorrow

Pip, please get yourself checked out ASAP. With preeclampsia you can deteriorate really quickly. Don't want to scare you but it really isn't worth taking the risk and waiting till tomorrow. Give delivery suite a ring if you can't get hold of the community midwife.

I would definitely give your MW a ring now. They'll be able to test your urine as well as your bp. I had pre-eclampsia last pregnancy, & was told that makes me a higher risk for getting it again in this one, and that on average you develop it 2 weeks later with subsequent pregnancies, so if you had it at 34 weeks you're now at that 2 week point.

Hope you're ok. I had it at 34 weeks as well last time and am now36 weeks today.

Mine was just high blood pressure that wouldnt come down so was induced at 38 weeks. I didnt have protein in my urine or any swelling.

Just an update. Been admitted to hospital today after my consultant appointment. Bp is through the roof and looks like I mIght have a new baby by the weekend! Not what I was expecting tbh but at least this horrifying ordeal of a pregnancy will be over soon

If it makes you feel better my labour was really really quick and easy due to the high BP! Fingers crossed yours is too!

I was hoping for a VBAC but been told I have to have a section as its safer :( little but gutted about it but as long as baby is safe that's the main thing

I'm so glad you got checked. Sorry you're disappointed about the section, I suppose it's because they don't like to induce if you're a VBAC? When's baby due?

Baby is due 31st jan so not for another 4 weeks yet
