clotted blood at 6 weeks

I've had a little of this (literally almost nothing) on a tissue yesterday, and today my body has given a bit more up (could actually feel it being released this time - kind of like weeing a bit without actually having done that). It's old looking, clotted and deep red (not bright or fresh looking at all), and there doesn't seem to be anything in it.
Is my body just kicking out some old excess or should I be worried?

Bleeding in early pregnancy is common but my advice would be still to get checked out, do you have any pains or anything? X

lexib · 30/12/2012 15:38

No, nothing else so far x

See how it goes, I'd see your gp about it who will probably want to do bloods and maybe refer you to early pregnancy unit for an early scan. I had some spotting this time but never felt anything come out just had some pink discharge on wiping. Had a scan last week x

Ok thanks becky, will try to get a gp appt in the morning. An early scan would be nice! Trying to keep relaxed as long as poss, but seeing would be amazingly reassuring x

Depending on your hospital you might be able to bypass your GP and self refer to your local early pregnancy unit. I'd ring them first thing in the morning to find out.

Try not to worry - bleeding in early pregnancy is very common

Hello so sorry to hear about your bled but try not to worry, i know its scary. I bled at 9 weeks for a couple of days - I went to a&e. They were lovely and although they couldn't do anything there and then (it was a Sunday) they booked me a scan the next day when their baby team were back in. Scan showed baby was fine. If you're worried, pop to a&e tomorrow and see if they will scan you. Smile

Had a docs appt yesterday and she seemed to think all probably fine but should have a scan anyway. Booked in for tomorrow but in last 24 hours have had bleeding far more like a regular period. No pain but still - pretty alarming. Cant quite hold on to the fact that this means nothing, though husband is being amazing. If everything really is still fine I'll never ask for another miracle.

It's really hard but try and stay calme and positive - easier said than done i know. During my scare I was told about a women who had bleeding and clots but went on to have healthy twins. Thinking of you today, let us know how you get on Smile

Thank you everyone. I've not looked back here as it wasn't good news... It's gone. Outside the hospital right now waiting on the second blood test to make sure it's not ectopic. I don't think I've ever wanted a baby so much (and funny cause I didn't know at all before). Roll on being able to try again
