I had to have a Bartholins cyst drained just before Christmas and as the spinal block wouldn't work I had to have a general anaesthetic. We have heard the heartbeat twice since while I was in hospital but I any help worrying that something will show up on the scan, it's on Monday, and I can't stop thinking about it. Does anyone have any experience of having a general anaesthetic in pregnancy?

Thanks

i had one to deliver my ds..he is fine.

we routinely use GA's on pregnant ladies where i work..it saves their lives and that of their babies.

its fine.

Yes I had a GA for a four hour operation in my third trimester. DS is fine.

Thankyou everyone! The drs were honest with me and said that the best time to do any op under general is in the second trimester but they couldn't really tell me about risks etc as no tests can be done!

Hearing stories of all being fine is very reassuring!
