Hi
I'm 18 weeks pregnant and have gained about 8kgs already!! I just feel so hungry and in turn eat more. Im terrified of not being able to lose the weight after.
Any advice on how to lose the weight now would be most appreciated.Grin

How much weight should you be gaining in pregnancy? What's others experiences been?

I'm 38 weeks and have (so far) gained just short of 2 stones. Not sure what that is in kg.

lilly40 · 29/12/2012 21:29

I'm not sure either lol. Have you found that your appetite has increased?

Gained 3 stone during my first pregnancy - went from 9stone (which wasn't much for my 5ft 7inch frame) but lost it within five months; I'm a big fan of exercise and stopped at six months which may be why I packed on so much. This time am 21 weeks and only gained 11lbs- but that is because I've had morning sickness and winter vom bug. I wouldn't worry - just try and eat healthily; my thing has been avoiding sugary stuff thus time round.

beckie90 · 29/12/2012 21:38

Average gain for pregnancy is around 2 stones but each individual is different, with my 1st I gained 4stones but it all came off on its own without any diet etc about 2/3wk after having him. My 2nd I lost 1.5st in first half but gained it back the 2nd half so went into labour the exact weight I was pre pregnancy, it all varys xx

TinkyPeet · 29/12/2012 21:44

With my first (boy) I lost about 0.5st, with my 2nd (girl) I stopped weighing myself at 6 stone on haha, eating normally too. This time round I haven't gained or lost anything yet but I'm only 11 weeks so there's still time lol x

I had problems Brest feeding my son as I didn't put on enough weight in pregnancy and hadn't then appetite to eat enough with the stress of having a new born, baby weight fell off in weeks. Don't worry too much about it and do what your body tells you... Besides with one toddler to run around after I lost a whole dress size from before pregnancy weight. I was a bit obsessed about weight last pregnancy so this time have thrown the scales out so I have no idea what I weigh and don't want to

Wow lots of differing posts and all really helpful.Grin
I had such a good figure before I was pregnant and am conscious of that so much and keep thinking I'll have a floppy stomach after the baby is born. Confused

Don't worry about the tummy, mine didn't go floppy even after my 2nd but if it did or it does this time at least I got my babies from it and they are worth far more than how the tummy looks after. It was a concern of mine when I was having my 2nd, but it went back to normal within 3 days and he was 9ib, I can tell a differnce to pre preg but no one else can. I just think now though what will be will be x

floatyjosmum · 30/12/2012 02:49

I'm 25 weeks and put on about 7 lb but in previous pregnancies I've been known to cry at the scales!

NanoNinja · 30/12/2012 10:21

You sound about the same as me at that stage. I really stacked it on early on, but slowed down in later pregnancy. Total gain = 2 stone, 1.5 of which I lost pretty much within two weeks. The remaining 0.5 is another story.,,

Airfryer · 30/12/2012 10:23

I put on 5 and 1/2 stone with my ds. Went from 8 and 1/2 to 14 stone.

lilly40 · 30/12/2012 10:27

It's so reassuring hearing that others have put on weight too. It's the getting rid of it that I'm worried about lol
Anyone know any safe exercises I can do to tone up whilst pregnant?

weeblueberry · 30/12/2012 11:36

Was 12 and a half stone before pregnancy and now, at weeks, I'm now 13 stone 8. Christmas hasn't helped but I'm still the same clothing size I was pre pregnancy so am assuming its mainly going to my bump lol.

wanderingalbatross · 30/12/2012 12:41

In my first pg, I put on loads of weight early on, and not so much towards the end. I reckon I put on about 15kg (just over 2 stones) in total, and I lost most of it within a month or so of giving birth. Now am 12 weeks with number 2, and i've also gained quite a lot, so think this pg might be similar.

I know the books say you only need to eat a little extra in the 3rd trimester, but I'm a big believer in listening to my body and my body says to eat in the 1st trimester! If this is your first, you'll probably start to get a decent bump soon, and then you can see that it's not just all being piled on your thighs and bum. Before there's a proper bump, I think it's difficult to appreciate where the weight is going :)

lilly40 · 30/12/2012 12:49

This is my second pg. I went from 9st 7 to almost 13 stone but was back in own clothes by 6 weeks after baby born.
That was 17 years ago and I'm older now and worried I'll not be able to lose the weight. Confused

35 weeks and 4 stone so far Sad

Loislane78 · 30/12/2012 19:36

I put on just over 2.5 stone I think. Lost 1.5 of that immediately, another .5 the next few weeks and the rest gradually so I'm within a pound or 2 to pre-pg weight, LO now 4.5 months. I BF and believe me when I say I didn't try to lose it one bit - think whole tubs of Hagen daas in one sitting and enough cake to feed the entire WI...

Breastfeed, you'll be fine :)

lilly40 · 30/12/2012 23:27

I plan on breast feeding and struggled with ds1 so am determined this time. I'm excited and nervous all at once if that's possible lol Wink
