33 weeks urgent advice needed

I'm 33 weeks and have just had horrible belly and back pains and felt really sick. Made me break into a sweat and then I couldn't see anything or hear properly as if I were about to pass out and then got the shakes really bad like I couldn't warm up! Also have had an urge to poo (sorry tmi!) quite a lot since then. Pains have stopped now, my belly just goes tight every now and then so feels a bit uncomfortable at the sides of my bump and in my back. Any idea what this could be as obviously still have another 7 weeks to go!

You probably don't want to hear this, but these are all signs of labour. I would phone you hospital labour ward for a chat if I were you. Don't panic, it's probably not, but no harm in calling. Good luck! Smile

Possibly Braxton Hicks but sounds quite full on for them. Do you have the number for your labour ward yet? You could call them or if you prefer, wait till morning and call midwife.

Any bleeding or waters? Is the baby moving normally?

SantasRooftopFanjangHoHo · 29/12/2012 01:47

First ..don't panic! Hard but it's the last thing your body needs right now.
It may be braxton hicks, they can be very strong. BUT if pains become more regular, stronger and get closer together you need to contact your MW.
33 weeks is not that early, even if it is labour babys born at this stage have a really good prognosis! Good luck!

Baby's been moving quite a lot since the pains started and I have the numbers on the back of my notes. No bleeding or waters no. Going to see how I get on in the next hour I think, and potentially get the bag ready!! :/ :/ thank you

If the baby is moving more than normal, give the labour ward a call and tell them that. It's probably nothing but best to get their advice.

Def ring if you haven't already.

EMS23 · 29/12/2012 08:27

How are you now alm12?

lunar1 · 29/12/2012 08:29

How are you op?

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 29/12/2012 08:29

Oh yes, are you ok?

alm12 · 29/12/2012 15:36

Body had a clear out after posting (again sorry for tmi!) I rang and they said that it was all common around this stage and that if the pains continued/got more frequent or worse to go in but everything calmed down after that luckily. They did say its a sign baby will probably be here in the next couple of weeks so will be getting the bag ready today. The things people don't tell you about pregnancy! Thank you all for the posts, hopefully it will be a calmer night tonight! xx

If it makes you feel any better I had random 'practice' contraction from about 33 weeks, I went 4 days over so try not to worry :)

LeBFG · 30/12/2012 13:23

I had very similar symptoms (backache, tummy tensing, runny poos) at 32 weeks before going into labour 4 days after. I did also lose my mucus plug so...I'm just surprised they didn't want to see you. Not trying to worry you on purpose but, if I were you, I'd be going in. How was last night?

alm12 · 31/12/2012 00:39

Yes LeBFG I was surprised too definitely thought something was wrong but they kept saying it happens a lot. I have also gradually lost my plug too which I had mentioned and have previously told my midwife. Felt very drained last night and today but no pains or anything really, just feel very weak. Have picked up a lot more tonight though so I think today has just been pure tiredness! Feel very on edge about going too far away from home now though! x
