Does a normal labour start like braxton hicks - painless hardening of the bump, quite regularly?

I didn't have a normal labour with ds, so I don't know!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oh well, I got 8 hours sleep instead, albeit interupted by my bladder.

All is not lost though. You might get a run of the same uterine activity today. Just ignore as much as you can. Don't kep marching arouind hoping it will spur things on - that will only have you knackered before labour starts in earnest. Fingers crossed Smile

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 16/04/2006 10:59

I went over with all of mine colditz - it's a PITA. Ds1 bounced on the sofa and headbutted me in the tum which started labour with ds2 - worked a treat but not advisable really.

Hope it starts soon.

Erm... can anyone describe a show to me? i'll give the info if anyone wants it, but it's a bit gross to post without warning.

Gunky jelly-like mucous. Can be stained pinky-brown with blood. I had a sweep and had loads of it.

Truly yuck!

NomDePlume · 16/04/2006 23:19

Mine looked like a big heck-up of phlegm with thin ribbons of blood running through it. Mine appeared about 12 hours before labour started. Nice

colditz · 16/04/2006 23:19

Yuk. I just had one i think! There was about (sorry sorry sorry) two teaspoons full, and it made me feel sick. It was gross. I've put a pad on in case any more comes out.

Bleeee.

You really want to know? Grin Mine was like a pink, blood-streaked mucus in my knickers.

I also had a clue in that I had just been woken at 1.30am, in such pain that I was on all fours, bellowing like a mule Wink

MadameDeMars · 16/04/2006 23:20

go to bed colditz... best thing you can do. Smile Only 8 days till my birthday now you know. I'm sure you can hold on Wink

hester · 16/04/2006 23:20

God, can't believe how quick people are to describe their mucus online!

Good luck colditz, sounds like it won't be long now.

colditz · 16/04/2006 23:20

i don't even like 6reading6 about it, but i had to know,

i'm all excited now, doesit always come just before labour then?

OP posts:
hunkermunker · 16/04/2006 23:21

Marsy, that's downright mean!

Go to bed, Colditz...am excited all over again for you!

starlover · 16/04/2006 23:21

mine was like clearish jelly stuff.

actually, I had 2 and the first was 2 days before I went into labour.

go to bed and rest while you can!

colditz · 16/04/2006 23:21

i have had some niggley tummy pains all evening, but have been steadily nipple-twiddling/ eating crisps, so didn't take a lot of notice.

OP posts:
MadameDeMars · 16/04/2006 23:22

but hinker..................... Grin

Go to bed colditz. Get your rest honey. Could be a big day for you tomorrow (a week too soon Wink)

starlover · 16/04/2006 23:23

i had braxton hicks every evening for a week or so. then a show one morning. then nothing for a day. then another show and then went into labour about 12 hours later

bubble99 · 16/04/2006 23:23

Ooooooh! Grin

colditz · 16/04/2006 23:23

OOOOH, I got the urge to have a 'clear out' about an hour and a half before DD was born (very quick 3hr labour). Could be it [fingers crossed emoticon]

starlover · 16/04/2006 23:26

no, that's good... it means your body is getting ready

Gillian76 · 16/04/2006 23:33

Definitely advocate going for a poo now.

Speaking as one who has twice pushed out of the wrong bit Blush

Gillian76 · 16/04/2006 23:40

Oh God I have grosed everyone out now and killed your thread, colditz. Sorry!

marthamoo · 16/04/2006 23:44

Come on girl Grin!

Seriously though, it must be horrible going overdue...sounds like things are happening though...

hunkermunker · 17/04/2006 00:02

Marsy's texted me - she got bumped...she said "Tell Colditz I'm thinking of her and can't wait to check the thread tomorrow"

Me too - really hope this baby's birthday is 17th April!
