I recently spent a week in hospital due to ketones and dehydration. Im now 14 weeks pregnant. In hospital the consultant tried various drugs for the vomiting and nausea. The two that worked the best are Metoclopramide (Maxolon)and Ondansetron(Zofran). On discharge the consultant said she would not be happy for me to be on the Ondansetron in the medium term as its a new drug and theres not much data on its on side effects in pregnant women. I was given a 5 day supply and an alternative, my GP has since given a months supply and didnt seem bothered.
But now Im panicking about hurting the baby etc etc but I just cant bring myself to stop taking it. The past 8 weeks have been hell, absolute hell and with the help of the drugs I can get through the day keeping plain food and water down. Just looking some reassurance if anyone has used these meds in pregnancy?

Hi. I am consultant led and also suffered HG until 20 weeks. I took Zofran from 8 weeks to about 20 weeks. But consultant didn't want me to take them much longer than that. Thank goodness I started to feel much better, and now at 28 weeks I am more or less fine.
Hope it gets better for you soon.

Zofran is the go-to ms med in the USA. I got mine without even seeing my ob - just called up and said I felt sick and they called it into the pharmacy. I didn't take it often but the digging around I did seemed to indicate it was safe.
