Tooth abcess hell! :o(

Hi I am in agony I have an abscess on my tooth, The dentist drilled my tooth and left it open to let it drain, this didn't work, she said the infection was prob too thick to drain through the tooth and gave me antibiotics, I've since been back twice and she has managed to poke about inside the tooth and get some more out.

It's been playing up all over xmas and is now bigger and more sore than ever :o( I've never known pain like it, I'm so fed up of being in pain and only being able to take paracetamol :o( I've got the dentist (new dentist this time as I've just moved house) at 1230 today .

Has anyone had a abcess successfully treated while pregnant? My last dentist was reluctant to do much while i am pregnant, but I can't carry on like this until feb, im now 32 weeks .

X x

I feel your pain. Ive been having wisdom tooth issues i cant get it dealt with til after the babys here though. Ive been dosing myself up with orajel and clove oil and drinking warm drinks through a straw has surprisingly helped

Lora, I was told I couldn't use clove oil while pregnant, can I use it?? Smile . Hope your teeth feel better soon x

You can take codeine, make a GP appointment and go get some pain relief! you poor thing.

I dont see why not. You arent ingesting it, its just put on your gum. I think its a case of how nothings allowed to be tested on pregnant people. I had low dose cocodamol too but i didnt want the strong stuff off the dr so i didnt go. Clove oil is in orajel too and the pharmacy had no issues with me using it.

hi I had 3 whilst I was pregnant with my daughter, it kept flaring up, they tried everything but it ended up having to come out after baby arrived. I feel sorry for you, I remember the pain well x

I had a ridiculously painful abcess treated at nearly 41 weeks. It was drained and the tooth was taken out.

They wanted me to have antibiotics and come back in a few days but couldnt guarantee me being able to make because i was overdue so they drained it and removed the root and was pain free within the.hour.

I feel your pain, i sobbed for days with mine. I really hope you get sorted x

I am all fixed GrinGrinSmile (fingers crossed) I went to the dentist, he cleaned out my empty tooth , there was nothing in there to come out it was all in my gum. He then lanced it which was the most barbaric painful thing I've ever been through apart from have my daughter.
This consisted of him numbing the gum /abscess as much as he could. Then stabbing my gum with a blunt silver instrument and manipulating the infection/puss out!
It was really sore yesterday, but today I feel like a new woman Smile the antibiotics he gave me make me feel rather spaced out but that's fine in comparison!
Thanks very much for all your kind words of support x x x
