Hi everyone

A friend of mine just found out she is having twins
That are sharing the same placenta but they are not identical twins but there both in different bags, and she wanted me to ask has anyone gone through this and the babies were ok? Thanks everyone

I think they probably are identical, something like a 95% chance of identical. It is called monochoronic-diamniotic so have a look for information on that. I don't think that having individual sacs and one placenta is that unusual? It could be that the placentas merged (so then they would be non-identical) or that they only have one and are sharing, but I don't think it is anything they worry about overly?

I have identical twins, she shouldn't worry she will be well looked after in her pregnancy and be seen fortnightly from 16 weeks onwards.

She will find a lot of help and support on the multiples boards.

She could contact TAMBA or the Multiple Births Foundation MBF for more help and info too

Congratulations on her pregnancy!

Thanks everyone I will let her know, I think the doc said to her
That it was two different eggs that are sharing the same placenta so I should just tell her it's nothing for her to worry about?thanks
