Argh - my bump is sooo itchy!

Today is my due date with DC2 and my bump has been so unbearably itchy for 2 or 3 weeks.

The baby goes mental when I scratch it, I think it is the cold weather and central heating, but it is unbearable. Bio oil isn't helping at all. I'm using e45 cream which is ok, but not totally curing it.

I didn't get an itchy bump with DD1 but she was due in a heatwave, and I do have dry skin.

Anyone else suffering from this?

I had this during my last pregnancy. I eventually went to the doctor and it turned out to be a fungal infection which she prescribed a cream for.

Hope it gets better soon

You should call your midwife because it might be www.patient.co.uk/health/Obstetric-Cholestasis.htm

Yep, call your midwife or the antenatal unit now. It could be serious.

Get it checked out. Now.

It is probably just over stretched skin if the itching is on your bump only so please don't panic about OC just yet - that's far more likely to cause itchy hands and/or feet. Just give your midwife a call tomorrow morning.

Do you have red or purple marks on it? My SIL had a hive type reaction when her baby was born

I've got an appt tomorrow so I'll mention it then. I think it might be a fungal infection actually as I've had bad athletes foot for the past week too. And I think my flat has a damp problem so it might related.
