Not sure if I'm pregnant

Hey all,

I had unprotected sex on the 14th of November, I was on the combined oral contraceptive and missed the pill on the 14th and took it roughly 48 hours after my last on. I went off the pill at the end of the course, end of November and my period didn't come. So I went back on the pill after 7 days of it not coming and started taking pregnancy tests. They came up negative except for this on the 15th of December which I'm not sure about. I went to my Drs on the 19th of December and they did a test and it came up negative. They have told me to take one on the 29th to confirm that I'm not pregnant but what are the chances that I am?

the test

Thanks and Merry Christmas

That's a positive pregnancy test. Congratulations. And Merry Christmas.

DearOldWrinklyMum · 25/12/2012 23:17

Erm, actually, given the amount of contraception involved maybe not congratulations. Blush

Hope you get things sorted how you would like them.

scrumpkin · 25/12/2012 23:17

I agree that's +. How long after peeing did you take picture?

Flisspaps · 25/12/2012 23:18

Hmm. That bottom one looks + to me, and I didn't think you could get those. You can get false negatives though.

I'd buy £1 shop tests when you next POAS - they're supposedly more sensitive than the CB tests.

Blue dye tests are (apparently) notorious for giving false lines (evaporation lines), is there any chance you can get a hold of pink dye tests (most of the cheap tests, Wilkinson, Tesco, internet ones etc are)?

Good luck for getting the result you want. x

Dude3 · 25/12/2012 23:32

The result came up within 3 minutes, but the test at the doctors was negative. I tried taking the morning after pill, both th 3 days and 5 day version. But I threw up 2 hours aftr taking both of them.

You must be completely confused by all those tests.

It's very odd to have a positive (that one on the right looks positive) and lots of negatives.

I'd ask the Dr to refer you to the EPU for a scan just to see what's going on.

You're right I've only done a urine test. I was asked to do another one on th 29th, again using the first urine of the day. If that is negative, is it worth getting a blood done?

I think I would wait and take another on the 29th. I took a ClearBlue digital test that said Not Pregnant, but still felt I was. I left it another few days and it came up Pregnant. I am now 11 weeks with No3. Sometimes a few days wait is all it needs. I know it can be a nerve wracking wait. I hope you get the result you want.

rogersmellyonthetelly · 26/12/2012 12:44

I don't know about that clearblue test. There is a skinny line on the left edge of where the test line should be, the thick blue line is too far to the right for what I've seen on the positive tests that I have done (about 6 of that brand!)
Also, when I did the digital one which was positive, the line test dipped in the same pee was much much fainter than that, they both detect 25miu and the +/- version was so faint you had to squint really, so if that was a true positive line I would think the digital would definately say pregnant!

willitbe · 26/12/2012 18:21

I agree with others that said the blue + / - tests are notorious for false positive results. I think that the likelihood is that you are not pregnant, but if you are the clear blue digital test would take a couple more days before showing positive.

If you want to test again today or tomorrow than a first response test or cheap test from Tesco etc would show up as also positive.

I hope you get the result you want.

beckie90 · 26/12/2012 18:28

I think the line dusnt look in the right place, there supposed to be more central with the + ones...did some myself although pink dye ones. I agree with the other girls read a lot of bad reviews about bluedye tests, if you have had all negatives other than that I probably would disregard it. But if still unsure re-test in a couple of days. Good luck x
