Am 40+6 and having a sweep today. High chance of an Xmas day baby I'd say. Anyone else?

Not me but how exciting! Good luck!

Wishfulmakeupping · 24/12/2012 08:20

How exciting, I'm not due for another few weeks but marking place as want to see if you do indeed have a Xmas baby- will you be giving baby a Christmassy name?

joby21 · 24/12/2012 08:24

Am 41+1 and having sweep today!

RooneyMara · 24/12/2012 08:25

Cool! I hope it happens for you Xmas Smile

My friend had her baby on Friday, I'm still pg, 38 weeks today...probably still be pregnant in February, I don't think it's coming out!

Good luck OP and let us know!

I'm working Christmas night.
Try to space them out a bit and not all crack on tje momfnt Dr Who is over.

3across2down · 24/12/2012 08:26

hope all goes well for you and you are tucking into your Christmas dinner with your baby! This has brought back memories. My baby was due on the 19th December and didn't arrive til New Year's Day. It was a planned home birth and my poor midwife ended up having no alcoholic drink over the whole festive period as she was waiting for the phone to ring!

1978andallthat · 24/12/2012 09:04

No Christmassy name. Dh vetoed Holly and Robin Hmm

Of course it might wait another week... Dd was on time though. I was due on the 18th.

I was due the 20th (scan date, my dates said 23/25th going by LMP or ovulation though) and it's a second baby. Been having twinges and a couple of days when I thought I was about to go into labour since 38 weeks and still nothing! Am not in any kind of rush to have the baby, except I did buy it a few little Christmas presents because my bigger girl would have thought it strange if Santa didn't bring anything for the newborn if it was here, but it's looking less and less likely that I'll actually need them!

I was pretty much convinced it would be here already. DD was about on time - contractions started on her EDD, but were on/off for a couple of days before labour got going properly. But that was fine, lots of resting time and I knew something was happening.

Part of me wants the baby here right now, part of me wants it to hang on till after Christmas, say the 28th or something, for the sake of all it's birthdays yet to come now that we've hit Christmas Eve. The sensible bits of me figure there's not point even thinking about it because it's going to come whenever and there's nothing I can do about it....

RooneyMara · 24/12/2012 10:21

I'm torn between wanting not to give birth at all and just wanting it over with!

I kept imagining it would be here by now as well...it's weird isn't it, I think I'm still in denial about giving birth.

roundtable · 24/12/2012 10:21

Due today so could be possible, although I really hope it doesn't.

Last time waters broke just after my due date though...

surprise11871 · 24/12/2012 12:50

PogoBob · 24/12/2012 13:22

Not due 'til Friday and DD was 2 weeks late so not expecting anything to happen until January, have been having pains all morning though so who knows.

I was up all night with ill DD though so could just be my body giving out about lack of sleep!!

Good luck to everyone having sweeps today Smile

VodkaJelly · 24/12/2012 14:57

I am due tomorrow, was meant to have a sweep today but turned it down as my DP didnt want me to have it incase it did bring labour on. Now booked in for a sweep on New Years Eve

MerryChristMoose · 24/12/2012 15:05

I was due on the 19th. DS arrived on the 27th.

DH had taken a week off, expecting DS to arrive punctually (his family are never late for anything). He went back to work on Christmas Day. I spent the day with my Doula and her family.

MyDaydream · 24/12/2012 15:12

40+4 here, turned down a sweep today in case it set things off and I really don't want a Christmas Day baby. Don't think he's going anywhere just yet though, I'm having some cramps but no serious signs.

BionicEmu · 24/12/2012 15:19

I'm not due until Jan 29th with my second, but my first was 6 weeks early (I.e. last week!). I was in hospital at 27 & 29 weeks with pre-term labour, have been 2cm dilated since 29 weeks. Doc can't believe I've managed to get this far, but have been having lots of cramps the past few days, so hoping I hold on until after Christmas!

joby21 · 24/12/2012 17:54

Had my sweep, well, i should say attempted sweep! Could only just find my cervix so i am fairly sure this will not be a christmas day baby!

RachelS86 · 24/12/2012 19:23

I'm 40+6 too so could be a Christmas Day baby! Not really had any signs tho and sweep not booked until Thursday so I don't think it's v likely for me! :) xxx

headfairy · 24/12/2012 19:24

I hope you get your Christmas day baby op. DD was due on 21st, I had a sweep on Christmas eve too, then another on the 27th, and 29th... she was eventually born by cs on New Years Eve Xmas Grin

SunnyUpNorth · 24/12/2012 22:42

I am 40+4 too and have been willing baby to arrive the last few days but now hoping it will stay put til boxing day or after!

I too don't really want Christmas day to be its birthday. Was over two weeks late with dd so not really expecting it to arrive.

Haven't got it any presents! Poor baby, neglected second child already!

Good luck all.

WandaDoff · 24/12/2012 22:57

'Natalie', means 'born on Christmas day' apparently.

headfairy · 24/12/2012 22:59

wanda My grandmother was born on Christmas day (and was Italian) and was called Natalina. DD was going to get either that or Natalia if she'd arrived on Christmas day.

BabylonElf · 24/12/2012 22:59

1978 I have a dd called Holly Robyn Xmas Grin she was born in August!!

Now me, I was born on Xmas day in 1978 - I'm Fiona!!!

1978andallthat · 25/12/2012 20:55
