Hi,

I've had a severe cough for the past couple of weeks. I've taken anti biotics which have done nothing and I've realised that the cough attacks come at night and are really wheezy. Has anyone had this? I am not asthmatic but could this be an asthmatic cough?

It matches well with asthma, but then lots of viral coughs are worse at night, too. And antibiotics won't fix a virus, either.

Do you have a history of respiratory problems?

Hiya
I had asthma as a child but grew out if it this pregnancy it has come back and I have similar cough at night.
I also find I need to be extra vigilant with housework and washing bedding more often.
Apparently when you are pregnant it is common to be more sensitive and get allergies like asthma speak to your doctor they gave me an inhaler and nasal spray but not antihistamines due to being pregnant x

My asthma flared up this pregnancy and last, often at night, often making me sick. Gp gave me new inhaler - serotide, which is a mixed steroid and reliever, and has helped hugely.

Also I found the asthma uk telephone helpline brilliantly helpful especially in arming me with the knowledge and questions needed for my Gp who is lovely but not brilliant at asthma. And they are unequivocal about needing asthma under control in pregnancy and insisting on the necessary medicines even if Gp wary, on basis you being able to breathe is the most important thing.
