Can babies disengage?

Am 40+4 so overdue.

Baby was 3/5 engaged at 38 weeks and also at 40 week appt. it dropped just before 39 weeks and was extremely low and uncomfortable. On a nerve so couldn't walk and felt like it might fall out at any moment.

Last two days all much more comfortable again which is great obviously but does it mean it has disengaged? Can babies move up again - undrop, so to speak? Does this mean it'll never come?

(it's still moving so not worried there)

Unfortunately they can, but maybe baby has just shifted its bum a little bit and made you more comfortable? Hope it's not much longer for you x

Yes, mine both practised bobbing up and down for weeks before labour started. With dd2 that grinding head into my pelvis thing occurred about a week before she was born.
