I'm having an early scan tomorrow at 7+2 just for peace of mind. I lost most my symptoms a week ago so I am completely paranoid...
I hope everything goes well, I read somewhere that if I hear the heartbeat tomorrow there is less chance of something going wrong... is this true? what are your experiences with a scan this early? I'm going to the Birth Company in Harley St so any opinions about that would be good too! Smile
thanks in advance this forum has been an amazing source of information! xxx

I think the statistic is that you have a 95% chance of a live birth if you see a heartbeat at 8weeks, I may be wrong. I had a scan at what I thought was 8 weeks and I turned out to to be 7+5. There was a teeny, tiny blob and a small flicker which was the heart beat. Good luck tomorrow! It's amazing

I had a scan at '6 weeks'. Turned out to be 8 weeks and all was dandy.

Good luck!

I had a scan at 7&4 and saw heartbeat & got given 85% chance all would be ok.

Good luck!

Get them to run a trace on the heartbeat so you can hear it - I nearly got a bit weepy at my 7+2 scan as I was the only one who couldn't see it, the mw was really nice and told the sonographer to run the trace a few times whenever he sensed me looking confused Smile
Hope it goes well today, my early scan was the best £85 I've ever spent Grin

Monthly I went for 8 weeks (but was 5 days behind) as the risk of mc goes right down after seeing heartbeat at 8 weeks. Plus I think you're more likely to be able to see heartbeat by that point.

gloti · 22/12/2012 14:32

hi everyone thanks a lot for all the comments. I just got back from my scan and I am so happy!
the sonographer saw the baby but couldn't hear the heart v well through my belly so did a vaginal scan (not painful at all). I almost jump out of the chair when I heard the heartbeat as it came from speakers in the ceiling! it was the most amazing thing ever. it turns out I'm now 7+6 and everything looks healthy.
I cannot recommend the Birth Company enough, she was absolutely brilliant xxx and like someone said, it's the best £100 I could have spent!

Cantbelieveitsnotbutter · 22/12/2012 15:48

Awwww lovely congratulations xxxx I had an early nhs one due to some bleeding. Amazing!! I asked for a pic and the bloke looked at me like I was mental as its obviously just a beating blob!

Guavasforbreakfast · 22/12/2012 18:30

Yay congrats! Isn't that heartbeat the best sound in the world? Grin
cantbelieve I got photos and have put them in Xmas cards for immediate family as an announcement even though it looks like an X-ray of a jelly bean. Never too early no matter what it looks like I would say Smile
